He was a real hero of mine when I saw his movies on a Saturday matinee, the Sinbad ones. They were something to see on the big screen scary as a kid. particularly the Cyclops when he was cooking those men.
He was still alive??? R.I.P. to the master of stop-motion animation. He and Willis O'Brian were the greatest of their eras. Today we don't have artists like them, just hundreds of no-names computer nerds.
Just listened to a segment about him today on NPR I didn't know who he was, really, until I heard the segment. RIP
I'm not a huge fan of them but even Nick Park and Aardman are switching to computer animation now, it's sad to see
