Keanu Reeves directorial debut proves that he is better at directing movies than acting, but in here is the exception to that too since he plays the bad guy with so much gusto that you just can't wait until his character gets his butt kicked. The trailer tells you all the plot that you need to know. Sounds simple, but the way the movie is edited, acted and paced makes it for an enjoyable action packed ride. Tiger Chen in the title role is fantastic and I'll love to watch more from this skilled martial artist. Copying the poster tag from 'Five Finger of Death' I'll resume this movie like this: he challenged champions to a deadly sport that turned brave men into killers. 'Man of Tai Chi' is not a perfect film since it has some scenes that probably the Chinese producers asked Keanu to include to make it look more Asian than Hollywood and it demerits a little bit, but not much. I have to admit I didn't have any interest in watching this film because of Keanu Reeves, but a co-worker persuaded me to check it out and this is my verdict: One of the best films in the genre of martial arts. 8.5/10
I started watching last night and only about 35 minutes into it but had to stop.. will finish tonight.. so far very good!
basic but entertaining i think the real bad reviews were expecting too much...it's a foreign kung fu movie
