The Bling Ring (2013) Not to be confused with 'The Bling Ring' (2011) a Lifetime Channel made for tv movie which in retrospect was much better than this one starring Emma Watson (Harry Potter films) and directed by Sophia Coppola. The film tells the story of the group of teenagers who broke into the Hollywood homes of the rich & famous celebrities like Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, Orlando Bloom, etc to steal their clothing, jewelry, cash etc just to wear those things or sell them in the black market to then go party and get high. While the film shows these home invasions, it fails to provide any kind of character backgrounds as to why they do this. After a while the movie gets repetitious (stealing, wearing clothes, party, getting high) until the climax when they get caught which frankly happened too fast. In comparison the 2011 tv version developed its characters first, showed their crimes in more detail and their downfall in a more realistic way. This new film fell flat on its face. 2013 version: 4/10; 2011 tv version: 6/10
