Carlito's Way is pretty brilliant. The whole last 15 minutes or so plays like one continuous shot

In the last years, I'd say The Mist.

A few little known movies I've seen recently that have great endings:

    The Exam

    The Best Offer

My favorite part about that ending is Morgan's closing line "Ernest Hemmingway once wrote; the world is a fine place, and worth fighting for. I agree with the second part." then it fades to black. Classic ending.

Actually, I take back what I said about The Mist.

I actually think the best ending in the last few years is "The Grey". That movie is underrated in general. Love the ending.

Yeah The Departed was a good one. Once you saw Wahlberg in booties, you knew Damon was done.

not really... it has kitsch value, I suppose... basically a typical Peter Fonda film with car chases and painfully "hip" dialogue ... Susan George whoring it up... Vic Morrow (pre-decapitation, naturally) chewing the scenery as a sheriff... The ending will make you happy if you are as irritated by the main characters as I was

I like the camera work as well... panning to the window and the music (a Roy Buchanan guitar solo, I think) starts and the credits roll... it was well done
