Would like to read the comic before watching it. Very intriguing characters.

    AgREED.
It looks shit, sounds shit and probably will be shit.

BTW, who exactly are The Guardians Of The Galaxy? Something Marvel created about 10 years ago or something? :scratcher:

Marvel/Disney has done GREAT so far. The humor has been spot on in the films. Don't see any reason to lose trust in them now.

The problem is that this film (obviously a comedy) will be linked to future Marvel films to build up an Avengers-like team-up 'event film' in Phase 3. These bozos will ruin any credibility of the other serious characters. Just saying.

I hope so. Hopefully it will be a one-shot experiment. But, who knows? Maybe it will turn out to be a terrific movie.

Serious characters like Iron Man and Thor? They had a lot of humor in their movies!

It is a very risky move by Marvel. These characters are not that well known even among comic book fans. Watchmen had more pedigree and it bombed.

WATCHMEN was fantastic. It bombed because it went over the head of the general public.

It bombed because (A) these characters were not known to casual moviegoers and (B) it didn't had the kind of heroic action audiences were expecting ala X-Men. Instead it was too cerebral for a summer blockbuster plus too R rated. Too bad. I love that film.

Guardians of The Galaxy FUN. FUN. FUN!! This is definitely the most entertaining film of the summer and maybe the whole year. This is also the most engaging, joyful, rollercoaster ride-like Marvel film to date. It has what the original Star Wars films had and the prequels lacked: a heartwarming child-like fun soul. All the characters are interesting and while at first they fight each other, slowly they bond and become more than partners, more than friends, they become family. Oh, yeah, there is plenty of ass-kicking action to satisfy our desire for intergalactic adventure ala Marvel tradition. But all the action, spectacle and villainous threats are secondary to the interactions of the Guardians. Chris Pratt is very good as Star Lord whose 70's songs mix are heard through out the film with The Runaways 'Cherry Bomb' played in its entirety at the film's climax. Pratt will most likely is going to become an A list star after starring in this film and next years Jurassic World. Zoe Saldana again creates another strong female character in a scifi film this time as Gamora, Thanos (James Brolin) rebellious adopted daughter. Dave Bautista graduates with honors as an accomplished thespian in his role as Drax The Destroyer, an almost unstoppable cruel killing machine on a revenge quest, but with a tender heart buried in all his hatred. BUT the show stealers are the two very characters most of us had doubts. Groot the tree-like alien who only says 'I am Groot', but that is both funny lethal and charming. And then there is the character that will join Yoda & E.T. as one of cinema's most iconic fictional scifi characters: Rocket Raccoon. The fast talking, hot tempered, smart, one-liner master makes all other characters pale in comparison. He might be a CGI raccoon, but he is the most three dimensional of all. You laugh with him, you get mad with him and when the little vermin sits down and cries, you cry with him. A star is born. Guardians of The Galaxy also gives fans an additional laugh at the end of credits bonus scene by showcasing an infamous Marvel character that once in the 80's had a big budget movie that bombed miserably. I just hope it was just a joke and not a teaser for a future film. LOL Grab your popcorn and enjoy this film. 8.5/10

It was great. Better than the original Star Wars.

Well, better than the Star Wars prequels, but it doesn't hold a candle to the original trilogy films.

I was more interested in this then any of the other Marvel stuff out there. Ultimately I didn't find it particularly compelling. Some amusing parts, I liked Chris Pratt, and the Racoon and Groot, but it just seemed like this was Audience tested to death. I felt like these characters were designed to push boundaries the other Marvel characters aren't allowed to, and instead we got a very generic storyline, a kid friendly plot and easy jokes, with zero tension of the stakes involved.

Well made, but just didn't separate itself from the other factory produced franchises out there.

Worth a watch I guess, but disappointing to myself personally.

    6.5/10
