According to many the biggest puncher in boxing right now. Not as successful as an amateur as many former Soviet Union representatives turned pro recently (GGGG, Lomachenko, Chakiev or the new up-and-comers Beterbiev and Usyk) and looks bit raw but so far has practically destroyed everybody in front of him.

Is this guy Cedric Agnew any kind of threat to him? I have never seen him fight, I only remember that he beat Mack and boxrecced the fact that he seems feather fisted

Haven't heard of him either. Hopefully we get a highlight reel KO.

ive never seen agnew, but fonfara blows. not really sure how hbo got outmaneuvered. all it means is we get stuck with the shitty matchup of hopkins-stevenson instead of an enticing fight.

Well, imo, the quality of a fight should mainly be judged before hand. Agnew may be the next best thing, and saturday's night fight, a foty candidate. But it still wouldn't mean HBO deserves credit for it, just that they got lucky. Kovalev-Agnew is a mismatch on paper, and it's only point was to lead to a Kovalev-Stevenson clash. Now that Stevenson's on showtime, it basically means that Kovalev's last two fight were basically made for nothing. Worst, it means that Stevenson's showcase vs Bellew was basically free promotion for a fighter now fighting on another network.

I like Kovalev but withtout Stevenson, I don't really see what fight he can do to keep the public interested apart from a ward fight, wich doesn't seem likely in the near future.

Yeah It SUCKS, but it's CLEAR Stevenson's DUCKING Kovalev...

A BLIND, NEWBIE Boxing Fan Could See Kovalev was Placed on Stevenson Undercards, IN CANADA No Less, for the Sole Purpose of Eventually MEETING Stevenson in the Ring...It Even Seemed like Kovalev was COOL w/Facing Stevenson In Canada...Basically, Dude was Doing EVERYTHING he Could to Make THE Most Important Lightheavy Fight (Of the Moment) Happen...

Al Haymon Made an Offer to Stevenson to SPITE HBO, Basically...He Really has NO Need for Stevenson in his Stable, he just Scooped him Up for LEVERAGE, Down the Line...& Stevenson, NOT Wanting to Face Kovalev, JUMPED @ the Chance to Go to a New Network, Knowing Kovalev WON'T Be in the Mix...

Kovalev just Needs to Keep Doing what he's Doing; Knocking People THE FUCK OUT...HBO will UNDOUBTEDLY Sell him on the Premise of Being DUCKED by Stevenson, Which is ACCURATE...

REED Doubts Ward is Terribly Interested in Facing Kovalev, but he Can Only Sit Back & Wait for GGG for Soooooo Loooooooooooooooong...Kovalev Won't Get the PURSES he's After for the Next Year or So, but as Loooooooooong as he Keeps Wiping his Ass w/the Opposition, his Time will EVENTUALLY Come...

Partly agreed, but I'm not sure that Stevenson is straight up ducking kovalev. Sure he's not eager to fight him but fighting Hopkins will make him more money and more publicity, so it's not a straight up duck job IMO. There is some exciting fight to be made for kovalev, pascal for example, but I'm not sure they're mainstream enough to make him a star. Still, as you said, if he continues to ko people like this, he'll get there sooner or later

I think it's still too early for a Kovalev-Stevenson fight. In a perfect world, after they both wins against the clowns they're fighting, Kovalev would face pascal next and stevenson would face Froch (barring he wins his rematch against Groves). If they both wins, the fight would be enormous, especially in Quebec.

I suspect Stevenson fans will always have a plan that doesn't involve fighting Kovalev until Kovalev loses or at least looks human.

Even if I'm a Stevenson fan, I assure you that i'll be very critical of him if he does indeed ducks Kovalev. Right now though, i still feel that both are still a bit unproven (at the elite level), so i'd like to see them both against an elite level opponent before they square off against each other.

Agnew does not appear to be trash but he does not seem to be anything special. Kovalev should win.

Agnew isn't really a southpaw so this is interesting. He has a good defense from what I've seen but doesn't really move his head...he has a chance but needs to move his head.

AGnew seems to have some skills and has the right strategy. We'll see if he can make a fight out of it.

Basically what I feared. Agnew can block punches an counterpunch but you cant just block a guy like Kovalev his power is too much through the guard.

Seems like a pretty small cut.

Kovalev has a shaky mental game.

Agnew is just looking for a homerun miracle punch. Could be possible for him but not what an undefeated fighter should be doing.
