We know both of them hit hard. But who do you think is the harder puncher of the two?

    Kov, easily.

Stevenson's power is explosive, but he has to put FULL FORCE behind his left hand to score KO's.

Kov is like a 175 version of Foreman, in that his hands are just FREAKISHLY heavy. He hits guys with shots that don't look like they have anything on them, and guys drop. He just has a sheer force in his hands that's pretty rare.

    THIS...

Stevenson Requires More WIND UP, More TORQUE on His Shots, Whereas Kovalev has BADLY Hurt &/or Dropped Guys w/what Seemed to Be ARM Punches...

How do you know if a punch is an arm punch?

It's a MISLEADING Characteristic of Heavy Handed Guys...Corrales, Foreman, Pavlik, Kovalev...NONE of them Require a Ton of Arm Motion to Generate POWER...

Conversely, WINGING Shots Requires a Great Deal of Arm & Upper Body Motion...They LOOK to Be the More Potentially Hurtful Shots Too, Even When they AREN'T...

Corrales is amongst the most devastating short punchers of all time.

Joe Louis can be added to that list as well.

OK, but how can you tell if it's an arm punch? How do you know it doesn't have a lot of power behind it?

Because he's been watching boxing for 25 odd years and has a good idea what a shot thrown with somebody's maximal weight/torque behind it normally looks like.

Agree with Xplosive and REED. Kovalev his obscene, effortless power.

Kovalev is the most consistent puncher, while stevenson has a better ko punch.

I honestly can't think of many LHWs who could beat Kovalev other than Stevenson and Hopkins. When Hopkins and Stevenson retire, Kovalev is going to dominate the division.

you said it, seems. He puts as much torque on his punches than Stevenson. Saying that he's a harder puncher cause he doesnt seems to try as much to ko guys is bs. We should only judge the results of theyr punches.

If that's the case you can't blame Stevenson for not wanting the fight.

I think its much of a muchness, they both hit freakishly hard. Whoever finds it easier to land will win.

We don't know for sure if Kov can handle Stevenson's power. But we DO know for sure that chinless ass Stevenson can't handle Kov's power.

If Stevenson doesn't wack Kov out quickly, he'd get walked down and beat down. It's basically that simple.

be interesting to see what happens if stevenson landed the type of blind right hook agnew hit kovalev with a round or two before he got KOd.

I'm not sure any light heavyweight will handle flush shots from Adonis. To me it's more about Kovalev's defense and how the styles happen to mesh than chin

Ohhh cmnonnn, he's not Julian Jackson.

Cloud was taking his shots, he just couldn't avoid them and his face couldn't hold up.

If Stevenson believed he could beat Kov, he would fight him.

To be fair Cloud took very few flush shots and by the 3rd or 4th he was just fighting to survive and throwing the odd lottery ticket shot. Right from the first he'd visibly back off every time he got touched with that left. I wouldn't call that 'taking his shots'. A few guys went rounds with Jackson by fighting to survive too

Put it This Way, If George Foreman Put as Much EFFORT in his Punches as Joe Frazier, for Example, He'd have MURDERED Somebody(s) During his Career...Nonetheless, Foreman DIDN'T & While he Didn't SEEM to Put A LOT Into his Shots, he's Regarded as a HARDER Puncher than Frazier, who Put his Heart & Soul Into just about EVERY Shot he Threw...

Kovalev's Getting a Similar END RESULT as Stevenson, w/LESS Effort...If Kovalev Exerted as Much in his Punches, Guys would Leave the Ring on STRETCHERS...

I dunno about this effort angle, tbh. Some guys look like they run effortlessly & when some guys run it looks like their eyes are gonna pop out - usually they're both running as fast as they can

I bet Kovalev takes a flush shot or two from Stevenson just fine. Stevenson can obviously punch, but he doesn't have true, lights out on impact type of power. Even Bellew took a good few flush shots before getting stopped.

that's exactly what i'm saying is not true. Foreman was putting as much in his punches as frazier was, he just didn't look like he was. If he could have punched harder by putting more torque on his shots, he would have done so at least once in a while. He couldnt though, cause he was trying to punch as hard as he could when it looked like he punched effortlesly.

I'm not sure if we can say Stevenson is fragile. I admit that he has an aura of fragility around hims, that makes me think it might be the case, but he hasn't proven to be chinless yet. The ko against Boone was an absolute bomb

Bellend was running away the whole fight. The moment Stevenson caught up with him he went down like the Titanic

your guys are weird sometimes, Bellew was hurt everytime Stevenson touched him, as was Cloud. They fought like bitches, so they didn't got caught clean too often though. And by this crazy logic, you can say anyone in history doesnt have good power, since nobody ever koed everyone they touched.
