Captain America: The Winter Soldier opened to record breaking numbers for a movie in April. The Marvel sequel took $96.2 million domestically surpassing the previous record held by Fast Five with $86.1 million. This opening is the third best one for Disney's Marvel Studio just behind the behemoth openings of The Avengers and Ironman 3, blockbusters that had the advantage of opening on midsummer and not on April. 'The Winter Soldier' opened a week ago in many foreign markets and so far has made $207 million for a worldwide total of $303.3 million proving that the studio was right on their gamble that if a movie is good audiences will flock to the theaters regardless of the season of the year. In the distant second spot, last weeks pseudo biblical Apocryphal spectacle Noah plummeted a 61% with $17 million. That is a disastrous second week gross for the big budget film which now has grossed $72.3 million in two weeks...much less that the Marvel film in three days. Divergent slipped to the third spot with $13 million and is holding nicely with only 49.3% decline in its third weekend for a total of $114 million domestically. Climbing up the list the little sleeper of the month God is Not Dead moved from he fifth spot to the fourth with $7.7 million with just a 12.2% decline. The Faith-based film with a budget smaller than what they spend on catering for 'Noah' has grossed so far $32.5 million and could finish its run with similar numbers to 'Son of God', a film that was massively advertised unlike this one, which came out of nowhere with zero publicity, except the youtube trailer. Also moving up one notch is the critics darling The Grand Budapest Hotel which after adding more screens took $6.3 million for a five weeks total of $33 million

Wow with that kind of opening maybe Evans needs to start asking for Downey Jr type wages for his next flick.
