Paul Edelstein, the attorney for Abdusalamov's wife and three young daughters, told "Outside the Lines" that he soon will file a lawsuit against commission doctors and other parties. Cleaning up boxing. :bears:
I would have supported this lawsuit had it been for $90 million or less. However, $100 million is just crazy.
I dont think the suit is entirely out of line. It took forever to get him to the hospital, his family/team ended up having to drive him despite there being an ambulance available onsite. They were practically begging to have the promoter call the onsite ambulance team, and in the end it was like 5 hours after the fight that he actually got looked at by a non-boxing doctor at the hospital. Had he been at the hospitally in a more reasonable time frame like 1-2 hours its very possible they could have operated quickly and improved his future from vegetable state to functionally disabled, maybe better.
We'll see. It seems more unfortunate than negligent to me, but a few 'facts' get shuffled around and my opinion could change quickly. As to your last sentence, they could have just taken him to a hospital at any time if they thought it was absolutely necessary. That everyone waited implies that the seriousness of what was going on was not clearly apparent.
Agreed, it seems that they were a clear fuck up in that case. Just by looking at his face post fight, you had to know that he had a broken orbital bone or cheek, and that should be a pretty clear sign to get you to the hospital asap.

god damn, he looks like he just got out of auschwitz. His legs are so thin it seems they wouldnt even support him. I hate boxing sometimes.
Its not boxing, its life. Hate life that gave us a soft pulp inside a softish skull and the soft pulp caused us to be wanting to fight. Boxing is a mere distant extension of a far more hateworthy thing.
Good on him . I thought he was a complete vegetable. Hopefully he can make some kind of a recovery and live some kind of a life.
Yeah, but it looks like a case where the NYSAC and doctors were negligent and so non-chalant about his condition. If they'd appropriately stressed the urgency for immediate hospitalization, he might be in a better state.
