Was the stoppage in the Tszyu-Judah fight fair, or was it premature? What would have happened in a rematch?

It was fair, and within the rules. Going down, getting up, and then collapsing again and then getting up and being on the verge of collapsing again with only the referee holding you up is a fairly good way to get the fight stopped.

Also, Judah punched himself in the face in the 1st round and made a noise as he did so.

If Judah took a full 10 count it still would have been not enough imo.

Like cdogg said, it's been a while. But there have been many lengthy discussions about this stoppage and Judah's shitty behavior after being fairly stopped.

And some funny "Judah Dance" clips.

If you get floored by a punch, get up, drunk dance and then fall down again, a ref is going to stop it 99% of the time

The Stoppage was FAIR, but there was Definitely a Sense of Being UNFULFILLED, Afterwards...

awful stoppage, and I'm far from a Judah fan (who would probably have lost anyway). A good ref would have continued the count before making his mind. If Nady would have stopped it after the mandatory 8, I could have lived with it, but he panicked and blew it.

Nady's a SHITTY Ref, but Zab Left him Little Choice...

You Can't Fall TWICE from the Same Shot & BLAME the Ref for Stopping It...Zab was tooooooo MACHO to Gather Himself 1st, Before Rising...In his Haste to SHOW he was "OK", his Legs Still WEREN'T Good, Obviously...Had he Done as Tim Bradley Did, After Getting Dropped HARD by Kendall Holt, Who Knows How the Fight Would've Played Out???...

Sadly, there was Never a RE...Tszyu Seemed Almost RELIEVED when it was Over & Used Zab's Post-Fight Behavior as an Excuse NOT to Grant Him a RE...Pretty WEAK Excuse, in REED's Opinion...

in fairness, both of you are known to err on the side of ring fatality when it comes to stoppages

I think that might be at least the 20th time I see a thread discussing that stoppage since 2001. I feel Zab could have continued if he didn't jump up at the beggining of the count like the retard he is. He didn't give Nady much leeway by stumbling around the ring like that. Still one of my favourite moment as a boxing fan. Judah talked so much shit, his fans talked a lot of shit on the boxing boards. It was incredibly pleasing to me to see Zab stopped that early in the fight.

Judah would probably have had his legs more under him if he'd waited a few seconds, but not enough that Tszyu wouldn't have stopped him shortly after anyway. As it was, Nady had no choice but to stop it.

.. having said that, I think Judah would have probably beaten him in a rematch.

Agree with all. It's a topic we've all seen too many times and there are only about 3 opinions that keep getting repeated over and over.

Probably my 3rd favorite moment, though, not first, haha.

be the greatest accomplishment of his career by several Light Years

IMO, he always would have gotten caught and either gotten knocked out or ran away, whining, feigning injury, complaining to the ref for imaginary fouls en route to losing a wide decision like the front-running cunt he always was

Tszyu KO'd him because he made a stupid mistake, I would think that in a rematch he would've been more careful. Round 1, Tszyu looked totally lost & Zab landed at will. But who knows.. it is Zab, after all.

I didn't see it that way... I saw Judah pulling out all the tricks he has (speed and left-handedness, basically) and Tszyu biding his time and closing the distance

When did Judah not look like he was going to have a great night in the first round or so of a fight? He had a good round or three against Mayweather before his lack of intelligence and toughness came to the fore
