The conference call was a lot funnier than the summary made it seem. Jones seemed like his feelings were legitimately hurt.
The funny part is that Dana White slammed Davis for not talking enough trash, and this was the reaction by Davis. "7 different kinds of smoke" Trash talking isn't his forte.
The best part was when he started going on about some time he and Phil went to dinner or something stupid like basically saying "Oh my god Phil how could you say these things I thought we were cool? :("
I don't see anything said by Davids that could be considered a blast. Saying Jones lost the fight ??? Maybe the backhand pimp slap comment could be considered trash talk but even then, it's pretty mild. Still, this is exactly the type of behavior that makes me lose interest in the UFC. If David is a laid back guy, let him be, don't push him into being something he isn't to manufacture some kind of fake WWE beef. White comments about Davis are a disgrace to the sport.
Right or Wrong, Real or Manufactured, it's BETTER for the Promotion of a Particular Fight if there's @ Least the PERCEPTION of Animosity...Look no fuuuuuurther than Rousey vs. Tate... A Guy like Nick Diaz is Sooooooo POPULAR Because Fans KNOW he's Gonna Conjure Up CONTEMPT for his Opponent (& Because he Smokes Weed:scared:).... REED:mj:
Davis should have kept his mind on Anthony Johnson instead of trying to irk Bones Jones. Now he just looks kind of stupid.
i dont claim to be a cage fighting enthusiast but from what i have watched phil davis is the classic example of a chap who looks like tarzan and fights like jane. and if he fought jones he'd end up jane doe
Short term, no doubt about it, but I'm not sure it's a positive thing in the long term. People get fed up when they are sold repetitively a fight as a grudge match yet it ends in a tame affair with both fighters expressing respect for each others.
