You seen this yet, Godfather? Really interesting concept, seems like it's had a really good critical reception too.
Boyhood Excellent drama about the life of a boy, Mason (Ellar Cortrane) as he grows up from age 6 to 18. Director Linklater does an excellent job in capturing the day to day mundane ordinary routine of the films characters which brings the film to a level of realism not seen in movies very often. Patricia Arquette should get an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of the struggling single mom trying to raise her two kids the best she can, making some mistakes along the way. Ethan Hawke plays jobless absent father who returns to give his kids as much fun as possible during the weekend visitations and provides sound advices that he himself doesn't follow. Ellar Cortrane is good as Mason and is a marvel to watch him age during the 2 hours 45 minutes length of the film, but his character is a little shallow as he grows older. The film is not perfect though. The character of the sister feels undeveloped and she just strikes as just a one dimensional spoiled brat since we first see her. The film so loses steam by the last 30 minutes and has a wtf anticlimatic ending. A juicy editing to trim the film a bit shorter might have helped. Still this is a very good film worth watching. 8.5/10
