I never understood Double L's affinity for this dude

He doesn't fit with the guys Double usually goes for, at all and he's one of the worst fighters ever featured on TV more than once

In Double's eyes, Cintron is right up there in the discussion with Gomez, Ortiz, and Benitez as the greatest PR fighter ever.

We were just talking about Citron the other day...whether he or Ortiz were worse pieces of pooh. I admitted whole - heartedly Citron had turned to shit. He's got that stupid fucking left hook and he constantly over shoots with his right. He turned shifty for sure.

He showed some good power early on and at 147 he was huge. Seemed like after the first Margarita fight he was done. Might have been the plaster in Margarita ' s gloves.

Didn't he draw with Martinez though?

Pbf of course wanted no part of him. Neither did Cotto.

Cintron always looked like complete shit... That motherfucker failed to impress even against that serial killer Teddy Reid who had been whupped several times in one-sided fashion by guys like Ben Tackie and who was about two divisions smaller on fight night... He always, always sucked... I remember at the time of that fight, I had been saying he blows but I remember watching it and saying to myself "if he just kills Reid quickly, I'll be impressed" ... He failed to do so, notching the least impressive win over Reid of basically anybody who had beat him... I wrote him off completely after that and was not surprised when Margarita beat his sorry ass... The entire rationale for his being on television was that he was a "big pucher" ... It's horseshit... Teddy Reid doesn't hang around 8 rounds if Cintron is anywhere near the hitter they hyped him up to be...

I maintain Cintron is the worst fighter I have seen on major television more than twice... I would pick basically every halfway decent fighter ever between 147-154 to beat him... He had Tae Bo skills, a quivering upper lip, atrocious technique and absolutely no instincts for fighting... He was absolute Garbage... Welterweight Michael Grant with less courage

The idea that any of the best welterweights of recent years were worried about fighting him is beyond ridiculous

I've seen worse modern fighters than Cintron tbh. He was pretty stiff but less offensively inept than say Khan or Berto

    That's ridiculous

Khan is shit but his complete shitkickings of Malignaggi and Judah were more impressive than all of Cintron's meaningless wins combined

Berto and Cintron are interchangable in terms of "skills" but Berto was a better fighter for the simple fact that he had courage

Citron had fight changing power. And that 1-2 ... stop rhythm of his always gave his opponents problems.

Yes..because Cotto has this tendency of avoiding/ducking motherfuckers.......

Cintron vs. Floyd and Cotto...would have been nice to see..stylistically...I think Mayweather will give Cintron a mix of the Corrales/N'dou treatment......movement and 3-4 punch combination that will rip Cintron face apart...if his questionable heart and weak mind is able to keep him in the fight long enough.

Cotto will turn Cintron ribs into mush...or since Cotto & team aren't the greatest strategist...they might just outbox the Frog...

When exactly did he display this fight changing power? Tell us! We're all talking about Cintron the fighter while you keep talking about Cintron the bullshit myth.

Also I agree there is no way in hell that Berto and especially Khan are worse fighters than Cintron. With Khan it's not even debatable but I kind of always wanted to see a Berto-Cintron fight just to actually see which of the 2 were worse. Berto has easily had the better career and showed way more balls even though he was one of the biggest ducking belt holders of all time. Cdogg has owned this thread. Pretty much everything he's said is spot on.

Never would've thought there was so much passion out there for Cintron.

Apparently, he's one of those fighters who can really tap into the fans' emotions and pull them in.

Cintron is nearly...nearly without peers in his ability to capture the imagination of fans.

    Exactly

his "fight-changing power" is the reason they kept putting his terrible ass on TV and he never ever changed a fight with this supposed power

    The guy was 100% garbage
