This fight is getting made? This is what happens when all the good fighters at 147 are with Showtime and Al Haymon. Blame GBP, TR, Haymon, HBO and Showtime. Because Pacquiao? All the guys he's faced? It sure isn't his fault.

And actually, pbf picked maidana solely on the basis of his win over Broner (not his losses to Khan and Alexander) just as Algeri was chosen on the strength of his win over Provo.

aside from his narrow win over provodnikov, algieri hasnt beaten anyone in the top 20 has he? maidana has other noteworthy victories and is a far more legit opponent.

Top Ranks talent from 140-147 is thin. So Haymon has 95% of it.

Pacquiao doesn't even play soccer so i think it's a brave move taking on Algeria who were pretty good this World Cup.

    Oh wait, Algieri.

    Who the hell is that?

Roach just wants Pac to punish the man who beat his Provolone.

I couldn't even possibly imagine this happening.

It's the closest thing to zero percent I've seen in a long time in boxing.

Pacquiao can get away with this because he's not an asshole like Floyd. Pacquiao fights anyone and everyone his management/promoter throws at him. He doesn't cry about money. He's not some faker trying to create a rich guy persona by throwing around money and living the high life. He doesn't brag himself up. He doesn't get into criminal legal trouble.

Despite all that, I like Floyd a lot and have stuck up for him for a long time on many issues. It just means that when Pacquiao fights a guy like Algieri, I give him a pass when I wouldn't with Floyd.

Manny has the IQ of a blender, and blows more money than Floyd.

    Yes, Amir Khan.

There's an angle to work with. Of course, both used to spar each other and Roach used to train Khan. You can imagine Khan would tell us in pressers and on Ringside how he handled Pacquiao in sparring and how Pac couldn't deal with his speed. It would sell well.

Khan was seen almost kod in sparring vs pacquiao on more than a few occasions. They had to stop the sparring

I didn't know that but it doesn't surprise me. Even this version of Pacquiao would batter Khan. It would be his first stoppage win since Cotto.

Speaking of which, isn't it a bit mental that Pacquiao hasn't stopped anyone since Cotto in 2009? For a guy who has had arguably the best offense in boxing for years, it's bizarre.

I think it's more his mentality than lack of power, as he has speed and power even at 147.

Still, I have not heard Khan say that he wants to fight Pac but he keeps saying "but you never know in boxing", so that tells me he would fight him if an offer was put forward. Fuck it anyway, it would be a fun fight for as long as it lasts.

Cotto may be the last guy besides JMM who actually tried to win. If Rios, for example, had tried to win he would've been ko'd for sure. Still, if Pac wants kos it's on him. But yeah, considering his knock outs of odh, cotto and hatton, odd that it suddenly stopped. Although, cotto and especially odh were obviously weight drained.

    "this version of Pacquiao"???

Is the narrative now that he's shot or something?

    based on?

The fact that he hasn't looked as dynamic or exciting since the Margarito fight. People have been saying this since the Mosley fight, keep up bruv.

This version of Pacquiao is a far cry from the one who steamrolled Barrera, a markedly different fighter.

He's more of a boxer today, and far less vicious and aggressive. Not shot, just very different.

Next time Pac loses, it will undoubtedly be because of his age/wear and tear. That's for sure.
