You guys hear about this? No ropes. 2 minute rounds. Small ring. BKP it's being called.

News is on Boxingscene. Fight I think is on ppv in August.

Apparently, there's a safety zone...If you step outside the ring (into the safety zone), it's a standing 8 count.

The imply they use smaller gloves but it says 8 and 10 oz. Gloves are used so was scratching my head....

Sounds intriguing. Less sporting. Violent. And perhaps even a step backward as far as detractors of boxing are concerned.

    Lack of ropes sounds bizarre.

Basically the idea is you want to occupy centre ring as much as possible and not run away?

Yeah. Exactly. Basically, they want knock outs.

Also, only 5 and 7 2 minute rounds.

    Could be interesting I guess.

What might make it more fun is if you could fall off an elevated ring, just beyond the safety zone, like Virtua Fighter

    Yeah why not

Broner should be the first boxer to try out this new revised format, against Gaybox.

That was my first thought, boxing is a classic sport and brilliant the way it is.

However, this could make for some entertaining sideshow type scraps between lower tier fighters.

    Ugh.

Maybe they could also have to cook a risotto for Gordon Ramsay too! How about 30 seconds of arm wrestling?

Fucken awesome. Imma share this on twitter with the kardashians.

They could call this new fight format "Boxertainment".

    That's just it, Brother MEX...

Sideshow Events are for the Butterbean's & Tonya Harding's of the World...If FAT, 53 Year Old Larry Holmes Want to Face Butterbean, REED's ALL For It...

But NOT World Class Guys IN or NEAR the Prime of their Careers...Vera & Rosado EACH Have Another 2-3 Years of Legitimate "Gatekeeper" Bouts Remaining...AFTER That, Sure, Go Ahead & Engage in CIRCUS Atmosphere, Bullshit Fights...

No Need to Trick it Up, in REED's Opinion...

Unfortunately the title still implies boxing. I guess it's still better than any random samplings of noise being legally allowed to use the word "music".

Years ago maybe. Now with all of the umm ... content available out there it wouldn't do anything to entice me.

A Pit of Fire SURROUNDING the Ring would Certainly Result in More CENTER RING Slugfests & Fan Friendly Bouts, Overall...

We MAY Be On To Something Here...

I figure they think they're taking the best of both worlds from MMA and Boxing.

But think about the implications of no ropes. The article said if the fighter accidentally steps out he gets no count. That implies if he's in any way forced out by his opponent, he loses points.

Is it sumo wrestling with gloves?

I'm really curious to see how this plays out.

Rosado and Vera are actually perfect for the debut.
