This looks like a re-make of one of Mickey Rourke's trashy films from 25 years ago or so.

It's not really complaining. It just makes no sense to really post it here. Are you gonna go see it? Did you enjoy the book? This is twilight for middle aged woman. This is a forum full of men.

It's porn for women. Fantasy porn bullshit. Rich, handsome man who will treat them like the little sluts they know they are. Women know their place, men are just scared to give them what they really want. Anyway this has no place here, just as much as threads about harlequin novels doesn't have a place here.

because media attention has convinced a lot of people that women in general love these books due to sexual frustration or whatever

Fifty Shades of Intimidation as over HALF of men struggle to keep up with Christian Grey in the bedroom.
    * 55% of men feel more under pressure to perform in the bedroom
    * 34% of men encouraged their partner to read the book
    * Only one in twenty men have read the novel themselves

And although Christian Grey and E.L. James' novel may be supercharging the sex-drives of women across the world, Fifty Shades of Grey is heaping pressure upon male partners.
A new survey, found that more than half of the 500 males quizzed (55%) felt under more pressure to improve their performance in the bedroom after their partner read the book.
Just over a quarter (26%) said it had led to an improved intimate relationship with just under one in five (19%) stating it had made no impact at all.

Greater frequency of intimacy was found to be the biggest demand on males from their partners. Increased sexual variety came second with increased duration coming third in the list of female lovemaking requests.
Interestingly more than a third (34%) said they had actively encouraged the partner to read the book widely dubbed as ‘mummy porn’ however they were now struggling to keep up with the results.
Just one in 20 of the males surveyed admitted to actually having read or be in the process of reading the books which may explain why the new adventure had come as such a shock to them

One of the males polled commented: 'I’d heard a little about the books and thought it would be a good idea for my wife to give them a read - I didn’t know what I was letting myself in for.
'We’ve been married a number of years and it’s safe to say we slipped into a bit of a routine in the bedroom but now I don’t know whether I’m going to be able to meet her demands and keep her satisfied.'

Most men like to believe themselves to be sexually driven alpha males but when it’s the female dictating the lovemaking it seems for many this can come with significant added pressures.
'Of the men we spoke to many said they felt under substantial pressure to become more adventurous in the bedroom, with the vast majority stating that they weren’t sure whether or not their desires now matched their partners.
'The poll offers some really interesting insight into the male psyche and I think dispels the myth that they are all sex mad.
'Instead what we have found is that they can often be all mouth and no trousers, preferring to boast about their sexual exploits rather than live up to them when given the opportunity.'

This study might be amusing if you're a woman, but - as usual - it lacks zero insight into male sexuality.
In fact, it simply highlights the malaise around it.
If it's to be taken seriously, us men are clumsy, clueless brutes who love sex, but aren't very good at it.
We don't last long enough, our technique is sloppy and our partners are unsatisfied. Meanwhile, all women are wonderful at sex, all of the time. Funny that.
Fortunately, no man will give this study a second thought because it only proves one thing: we can't win.
If we act on our desires, we're simple creatures with a one-track-mind; however, a woman does it and she's in-touch with herself. We shift focus off sex (yep, there's more to us than that) and we're 'all-mouth, no trousers'.
    Yeah, whatever.
Maybe the people who conducted this survey (and those who choose to believe it) should remember that men aren't on sexual stand-by, grateful to kneel at the altar of women when they call.
Quite frankly, the only result such patronising research will have is turning us off.
Especially as most people already fail to appreciate that sex is a huge pressure for men anyway - after all, it's us who do most of the initiating, performing, delivery, quality control and timing. Not to mention the chase.
Any ripple-effect this literary fad might have pales in comparison.
However, the fact that Fifty Shades of Grey has become a national aphrodisiac is by no means bad.
On the contrary, not only will it provide men with a break from leading all the time, it'll also give us the right to ask our girlfriends to behave more like the woman in the book.
And given that its main protagonist is a man gets what he wants, perhaps it's them who need to keep up.

It's also known to have been a major factor in the number of divorce-rates since 2012.

seriously, it's absurd... books like this are mostly relevant to women who aren't getting laid or have severe self-esteem issues

they have better porn for chicks now than ever before, they don't need a silly book

This will be one of those movies that get a ton of internet buzz, word of mouth, "oh did you hear they're making a movie based on blah, blah, blah, fisting assholes, blah, blah, blah..............."

and then ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ nobody actually goes to see this trashy piece of garbage, and it's out of the theatres in two weeks, straight to VOD.

cdogg, I of all people am not trying ruffle anyone's feathers but '50 Shades' is not a direct cause but was certainly has opened many women to a side they kept buried or did not know existed, felt they had to explore it with another man since their boyfriend/husband was not 'Alpha enough'.
But lets word it this way: there is a far higher than median correlation between female readers of that book and the number of affairs by women in the general population as a whole.
It's making a point about sexual fantasies, and how '50 Shades of Grey' allowed some women to fully realize that they were into BDSM. Having an extremely popular book (how many copies sold? 100 million) about this subject just makes BDSM less taboo and more mainstream.
For the women who truly want to explore this side of their sexuality, they may look outside the marriage because:
    a) they don't want their spouse to know about this side of them due to embarrassment (same reason some women will not do things with their husband that they did with an ex-boyfriend).
b)they do not see their husband as dominant enough to fulfill that role in their fantasies.

I don't think anyone is blaming the book directly. Do you believe there is a correlation between the rise in social media (Facebook) and affairs?
You cannot blame Facebook, but it sure as fuck has caused many affairs that may never have started otherwise.

I know, firsthand from a good friend of mine whose marriage was totally shattered, not directly because of this book, but because his wife had her interest piqued by it.
Her actions to her husband subsequently mirrored what I described in a) and b), above but unfortunately, all it took was for some other jerk of a player to comment on it...she took the bait and eventually caved-in and started an affair, all based on or around BDSM-orientated sex.
    Tragic.

is this the same friend who you were only sort-of friends with that you knew vaguely from England who somehow wound up living in Brazil near you and turned to you for guidance after his wife broke his heart despite not really knowing you that well and then you and his wife started sexting one another and discussing meeting-up so you could cheat on your wife and she could cheat on the guy she dumped her husband for???

How the fuck can reading a fictional book all of a sudden open up so many woman to some kind of different sexual mentallity they never knew they had? Especially since many of these woman have probably read dozens of romance novels and other sex filled type books. I call bullshit on this whole thing and chalk it up as a bunch of lies spread through the internet to help sell that fucking 50 Shades of Grey book.
