Too often when we speak about the best displays of skill and technical finesse, we only mention the masters of defense and countering.

Attacking is a skill too, so let's list some best display's of skillful aggression. In fights such as Foreman-Frazier or Pacman-Barrera you could argue that the physical abilities had more to do with the result than the technique. Whereas it doesn't matter how you beat your opponents, let's list your favorite skillful performances.

Duran-Palomino could be a prototype example for this thread

Dog Jones beat me to it

Curry vs. McCrory and Nino LaRocca is a MACHINE

Alexis Arguello vs. Jim Watt is a tour de force of exemplary punching technique... heavy, thudding punches to head and body, delivered with precision... It's also a tribute to Watt, I begrudgingly admit, because it showcased how much courage he had and how tough he was

Arguello-Rooney is the first fight that came to mind.

Mike McCallum was the first guy who came to mind but maybe everyone has a different idea of exactly what the Q means

Arguello is the most aesthetically pleasing offensive fighter in history, i think in my mind... Maybe Joe Louis, too

Yeah I'd say Louis and Arguello are the two best punchers ever in terms of torque and leverage. McCallum's punch picking, variety and ability to do everything while staying so incredibly defensively sound and on balance made me think of him first for overall 'technique' though. Also the way he could generate power while expending so little energy through shifting his balance. Not saying its the 'right' answer mind

he was great to watch as well, just not anywhere near the same class in terms of power

he was superior defensively to both, however

Even in Losing, REED Can't Recall Arguello or Louis EVER Looking Inept or Clueless, Offensively...They'd STILL Get Their Licks In...

I think it's bullshit that nobody has mentioned a Mayorga, or Antwun Echols fight yet.

Oddly, that was the first fight that came to mind for me but that might be because I have watched it so many times - the perfect antidote to Watt's abominable commentary.

yeah, anytime I get a British stream and listen to that miserable proddy cunt ruining the whole thing, I calm myself by watching Arguello snap his head back for 15 rounds

What's interesting to note is that Arguello, even though we rightly view him as an offensive monster, he was also largely a counter-puncher.

In this way, JMM is similar to Arguello.

    An explosive counter-puncher.

I still don't know what a counter puncher is meant to be. In my mind Donaire is a counter puncher.....Hamed was a counter puncher. Don Curry. Guys who counter off their opponents shots.

    JMM, not so much.

A counter puncher is somebody who goes all out on the attack without regard to what their opponent does.
