Yes, Virginia, they are planning a remake of Escape From New York and it is rumored that 'Sons of Anarchy' & 'Pacific Rim' star, Charlie Hunnan, is the producer's top candidate to play Snake Plissken. Other actors considered are Jeremy Renner, Tom Hardy, Jason Stathan, John Bernthal (Walking Dead) and Dan Stevens (The Guest). While Hunnan seems like the perfect choice, his commitment to projects like 'Pacific Rim 2' and 'King Arthur' will keep him too busy for too long to accept this role. It is still undecided if this film will be a prequel or a remake. However what was leaked on the net is that it will be both and a reimagining of the story how Manhattan becomes an island prison and that Plissken has to recruit a team of criminals to help him rescue the president. Plissken's past story will be seen in flashbacks. The film began early preproduction and will be produced by Silver Pictures and Studio Canal. One persistent rumor coming from this past Comic Con is that Marvel Studios are planning a Ms Marvel movie which will be the first female superhero character from Marvel to grace the screen in a solo film. Underworld is going to get a reboot as well as Power Rangers. A photo from the set of the new Fantastic Four was leaked in what looks like a spfx greenscreen shot of Dr. Doom versus CGI The Thing. I hope that is NOT Dr. Doom's final costume since it looks dumber as hell than the prior film's. The Holywood Reporter comfirmed that DC ordered a script for an Aquaman solo film. Jason Momoa (Conan remake) will play Aquaman and will be seeing first in a cameo in the Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice film. Ridley Scott next film after his biblical Exodus: Gods and Kings will be The Martian starring Matt Damon in what reads like a remake of 1964 Robinson Crusoe on Mars. After that one the 76 year old director plans to direct Blade Runner 2 and after that one Prometheus 2 but Scott is unsure if he will be able to direct that one too.
Can aquaman use his powers outside the sea?
Michael Dorn (Star Trek: The Next Generation) might return to a tv series as fan's favorite Klingon in Star Trek: Captain Worf . Reportedly Bryan Singer has interest in the project and the studio and Dorn has also interest, but ultimately it will be J.J. Abrams decision to do something with it. It is unclear if Worf character will continue its ST:TNG and STS9 storyline OR if he will follow Abrams alternate timeline and Worf will be a Klingon Empire officer instead. I for one prefer the last more interesting option.
