2014 Summer movie going is officially over and this weekend tallies as the second slowest weekend of the past 10 years (the champ is still August 2008 which this weekend only beat by mere $1.5 million). Guardians of The Galaxy easily took the #1 spot with $10.2 million in the face of the sole new release The Identical bombing miserably debuting in the 11th spot with $1.9 million, a far cry from the recent stream of faith-based films. Guardians made history by becoming the most successful August release ever after it surpassed the total domestic gross of The Sixth Sense and made more money than last Summer's champ Man of Steel with $294.5 million. The feat is more admirable if you consider that Superman is a well known brand versus the relative obscure Marvel title. Also Guardians became the 4th film of the past decade to claim the #1 spot of 4 weekends. The other three are The Dark Knight, Avatar and The Hunger Games. Guardians has a good chance of also surpassing the original Iron Man total domestic gross of $318 million. Strangely the film hasn't been bigger in the foreign market, but it still hasn't opened in Japan & China and those two markets can boost its numbers if it connects with their audiences.

In the 2nd spot Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles took $6.5 million for a total of $174.6 million. The remake has demonstrated incredible staying power despite ranking so low. It might prove critics wrong again by ending its run with close to $200 million. The sequel is being written as we speak. If I Stay remained firm in the third spot with $5.7 million. While not as successful as was expected, the $11 million budget film is a minor hit with a 3 weeks total of $39.6 million. Lets Be Cops moved to the 4th spot with $5.4 million. The sleeper comedy hit has now grossed $66 million in 4 weeks. The November Man moved up t the fifth spot with $4.2 million thanks to the descend of the horror flick As Above/So Below (sixth spot with $3.7 million).

Lucy enjoyed its last week at the top ten (10th spot with $1.9 million). The film has made $121 million domestically ($313 million worldwide) which in comparison to its $40 million budget puts it as THE most successful summer movie of 2014. Sure Transformers Age of Extinction has grossed over $1 billion, but in comparison to its budget and marketing expenses, it doesn't come close to the profitability of Luc Besson's film.

One thing is for sure: after this film and also starring in next summer's Jurassic World , Mr. Anna Faris, Chris Pratt will be renegotiating his salary contract with Marvel.

According to the premise, Jurassic World looks like going back to the first installment. This should be directed by Spielberg.

Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. This new park is owned by the Masrani Corporation. Owen (portrayed by Chris Pratt), a member of Jurassic World's on-site staff, conducts behavioral research on the Velociraptors.[SUP][2][/SUP] After many years, Jurassic World's attendance rates begin to decline and a new attraction created to re-spark visitor interest gravely backfires.[SUP][3]
