Get out of here! These are popcorn films for all audiences, thus the billon $ in revenues. The only genre that is meant for a specific target population are those artsy gay love stories that always bombs at the box office, but that liberal media critics praise as 'best picture of the year!'

 

That's exactly what a fa...I mean a gay man's defense of these films would be.

I'm afraid to waste time watching this. Is it as bad as Twilight?

 

Twilight is about a girl choosing boyfriends who happens to be monsters. The Hunger Games is a highly entertaining science fiction action-adventure saga about sacrifice and survival whose hero just happens to be a female. The comparison doesn't make sense.

 

Reviews have been less than stellar. It currently has 68% fresh score at rottentomatoes which is the lowest one in the franchise track record. The main beef of critics is that since the studio decided to give it the Harry Potter finale treatment of splitting the last book in two parts to milk longer the franchise, the result is that this Mockingjay Part 1 has very little action and is more of a 'talkie' about what will happen in Part 2! The film scored a 'year best Thursday opening night' with $17 million, but that is waay below prior franchise numbers.

 

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay part 1 Not as fun as the first two, but not as bad as critics were saying. Actually I found it quite entertaining and it does have some action sequences which were very good. Yes, Katniss Everdeen (J-Law) is mostly a depressed observer in this one, which is more political, involving the rebellion against the tyranny of Pan-Am government than entertain us with yet another Hunger Game. The ‘cliffhanger ending’ was the weakest part of this film and drowned it to tweeny soppy dumb 'Twilight’ levels that the prior two films effectively avoided. Yet, it is a very different film from the previous two and the storyline has moved forward and away from the hunger game premise, which is a good thing. The next and final chapter promises to be action-packed and bring closure for all these characters. This one is okay. 6.8/10

 

The Hunger Games series is pretty good. I like the first one the best.

It gets compared to or called a rip-off of Battle Royale, but it's not exactly the most unique storyline anyway. Dystopia society with a deadly "game", it's been done many times.

Yeah, I watched about half an hour of the 2nd Twilight and it was absolutely awful. It seemed like a parody because it was so bad.

The Hunger Games is a dark and somewhat depressing dystopia series.
