He's received some criticism of late due to the quality of opponent he's fought since beating Matthysse last September. Isn't it time for him to step in the ring with the likes of Adrien Broner or Lamont Peterson next? What are his plans anyway...I've been reading the WBC has ordered him to fight his mandatory, Viktor Pastol, but is that really likely to happen? I've read the WBC has granted purse bids to be extented for that anyway, but what does that really mean? I watched a boxing programme earlier on and the guys in the studio believe Garcia will vacate his belts and move up to 147. But why? As I've mentioned already, Broner and Peterson are at 140. Garcia-Broner in particular would be huge, right? Garcia-Peterson also as it would be a unification fight. Garcia plans to let us know soon what's going on and says it will be worth the wait.

I thought he lost to Herrera in his native Puerto Rico...

Pressure must of got to him on the night to impress those where his roots lie, but he was awarded a debatable decision.

I think so too, but to me he lost clearly. He still is very viable, has power, good boxer. His best was against Matthysse. Him fighting Maidana, Pacquaio would be entertaining...

I'd love to see Danny fight Robert Guerrero. Then their annoying dad's can fight afterwards.

Garcia says he wants the big fights and I get the impression he'll move up to 147. Still, I want him to aim to cement his position as number 1 at 140 by facing the opponents who pose him the most threat, but you can't blame him for wanting to move up because at 147 is where he'll earn more money.

Not a big fan of DG. I just don't see anything special or even entertaining when I watch him fight. I find myself almost rooting against him so we can get this poser off the throne.

Anyone who beats Matthyssee can't be considered a poser.

Right now Danny is the man at 140 and there's just nothing left for him there at the moment, unless he decides to wait for Terence Crawford. I think he'd be better of facing any one of the champs at welterweight.

Though I wouldn't mind seeing him destroying one or both Adrien Broner and Brandon Rios.

Garcia is average as hell....but he did KO Khan...and beat the guy that everyone though was the future of the division(Lucas Matthysse).....he is as good as it gets at 140.

Danny Garcia, as evidenced by victories over guys like Judah, Khan and Mathysse, is not fucking average. Please. If your criteria for judging boxers says that Garcia is average, then your criteria is f'd up and you need to get new criteria.

Garcia won me over but I thought he was limited at first, the kid is just smart, he knows how to win a fight and that's all that matters.

Like Puerto said, anyone who beats someone like Lucas is not a poser.

I know Danny looks slow and kind of scrubby, but he can flat out fight. He knows exactly what he's doing in there, and has good timing and power.

Right? If those guys are/were "average" at 140, who exactly is "above average"?

Still, Garcia did lose to Herrera. But Herrera is a good fighter. Guys are going to lose to guys like him.

I'd like to see Garcia / Broner or Peterson at 140 or Garcia / Thurman at 147. I thought he mentioned something about having trouble making weight before the Hererra fight and that he would only fight one more fight at 140.

Anybody else think he's holding out hope for a big pay-day fight w/Floyd so he doesn't want to another high-risk fight until he's completely ruled out as a potential opponent for Floyd before he retires?
