Hopkins can give your favorite boxer a few lessons...how to throw the jab, how to counter the right hand....etc.

Hopkins is one of the most skilled fighters of the 90s-00s era. If that isn't apparent to you, then "you don't know shit about boxing." (tm)

The dispute was not concerning Hopkins skills. The dispute was concerning whether he did, in the 90's-00 era, conduct his business against non-bums his own size.

Gotta say it's hilarious seeing the criticism of "fighting undersized bums" coming from wald pussy's girlfriend, though

I never made any such a criticism. GO back and REED what was written. I never criticized Hopkins in any such a fashion at all.

"The dispute was concerning WHETHER he did......."

    Cunt can't even fucking read.

If anybody can point out just where I said that Hopkins spent the 90's and 00's defending against "Undersized Bums" I would be happy to admit my folly.

Yes, I'm sure your motive for clarifying the nature of the dispute (incorrectly, because you can't fucking read) was entirely without agenda, especially since Hopkins is an evil bleckman, and especially because you've made similar comments about him in the past.

It's pretty hilarious that you got so worked up over your man-crush being criticized that you had to throw a hissy fit over two separate posts, though

Well, Hopkins' resume at 160, save for the 154 pounders he beat there, is pretty thin. Especially considering how long he reigned. Don't get me wrong. He has some decent wins. But it's more impressive for its longevity than for any individual victories.

Antwun Echols was dangerous. So dangerous he nearly lost to Brian Barbosa and then DID lose to Mundine. Beating Keith Holmes was a good win, sullied by the fact that Hacine Cherifi had already beaten Holmes and the thoroughly average McCracken had him going at Wembley off a single right hand. What Hopkins does deserves credit for is not per se who he beat, but how he beat them. It's also worth pointing out that for all his recent bullshit, he achieved an awful lot for a fighter who refused to align himself with any named promoters for so long. People think Roy Jones was unique in that regard, he wasn't.

Pretty rudimentary stuff from Hops there. I bet even Amir Khan knows 80% of that 80% of the time.

Great stuff by Bernard. Basic and fundamental shit most fighters don't know.

Bernard's not the most exciting guy in the world but he's fundamentally sound. The same goes for Andre Ward. Ward knows his shit and breaks guys down methodically. Guys hate him as well.

I mostly think boxing fans aren't sophisticated enough to understand what they're seeing which is why blood and guts sans talent guys like Arturo Gatti received so much praise. The guy was a walking punching bag.

Bollocks to Ward. He's far more boring than Hopkins has ever been. He fights like OLD Hopkins, despite being young.

Young Hopkins was better, more dynamic, and didn't need to rely on constant clinching and headbutting. Hopkins was very watchable until somewhat recently.

stole the words right out of my mouth. Hopkins was 'crafty' when he was younger, but now he's just boring and dirty. at ~50, we can forgive him for it.. ward doesn't have an excuse, though

I didn't see Ward hugging Froch and he won that one fairly easily.

He also didn't hug Dawson and beat the snot out of him.

To say Hopkins was 'watchable until recently" is revisionist history and flat out wrong in relation to the comments made about him dating back to let's say the Keith Holmes fight in 2001 when he entered the middleweight tournament.

Bottom line is some guys prefer marginally skilled, rugged guys like Froch, Gatti and Hatton over technicians like Hopkins, Ward or Mayweather. The last three know how to take away your best weapon or have it work against you.

Guys like Froch, Gatti and Ward simply plod forward and out-tough the other guy. It's simply a matter of preference. I vary from fight to fight depending on the styles, I truly feel the vast majority of guys don't know what they're watching so fall back on the "blood and guts" aspect of the sport.

It's the easiest to see and requires little to no understanding of the finer points of the sport.

In defense of Froch, don't group him in with Gatti and Ward. Froch has an ugly style, but he's a quality fighter. Gatti and Ward were bums.
