Does Walters, the guy who beat Donaire in far more impressive fashion than Guillermo did, have a chance at beating the over - rated not - for - tv styled amateur?
Rigo would go in as the favorite, but considering that Walters is MUCH bigger, and considering that Walters has skill, and a devastating right hand, his chances are VERY good. MUCH MUCH better chance than Santa Cruz or Frampton would have against Rigo at 122.
When did Rigo become some unbeatable God? Sure he schooled Donaire, but Donaire has no weapons outside of his big left hook. It's pretty easy for a skilled southpaw to neutralize a left hook. We've seen Rigo hurt in the past. The man isn't invincible. Rigo has shown enough to make him the favorite over Walters, but there's nothing to suggest that Walters would have NO chance. That's just overrating the little ugly Cuban. Rigo would do a number on EVERYBODY at 122, but Walter's at 126 is a live threat to him.
the axe man would be axin' african aristocrats for alzheimers antidotes and angling for atlantic mudskippers in angolan aquatic areas after accepting an awful asswhipping
Even you have to admit Neil, Walters represents the biggest threat to Rigo outside of Loma. I'd like very much to see Rigo beat up overrated Santa Cruz though.
honestly i dont see walters as some huge favorite over santa cruz. that fight seems like a pickum. other than being bigger what edge does walters have in skill?
I do somewhat agree with this. The little Cuban Wizard should be a clear favourite, but it's not like I'd be shocked if he got bashed up by my boy Nicholas. The size difference alone could be the most significant factor. Walters is a big, powerful featherweight, with long arms, and a solid, patient style. I was impressed as anyone with Gondo's masterpiece domination of Donaire, BUT at the same time I've been saying since the Vazquez fight that Donaire isn't much good at 122.
Walters is just clearly better imo. Bigger, stronger, more powerful, more reach, better jab. The question is, what advantage does Santa Cruz have over Nicholas? Does he even have better workrate? I think Nicholas would beat the crap out of him.
I'd love to see in-ring weights for Walters-Donaire, btw. He totally dwarfed Donaire (that huge guy who was lighter in-ring than Montiel).
He has the style to make Rigo open up...... which would end badly for Santa Cruz. Difference with Walters being, Walters has fight altering power. Santa Cruz doesnt.
i dont see it. walters was hurt by donaire, he isnt exactly an iron chinned guy. im not sure why a lot of people all of a sudden think the guy is the next coming at 126. he is a tall and big guy at the weight with good power and a decent jab. otherwise he seems pretty wide open to be countered. i wouldve picked santa cruz over donaire going into that fight as well
Buenos Dias, Go Go Gadget Gran Campeon, is obviously the only guy who can even touch that little fucking cuban mushroomtop, between HuggiesWeight and MiddleEarthWeight. On a clear night, you can see forever!!!!!!!!! :bravo:
That pint-sized sorcerer would outpunch Walter 3 to 2 (and when I say 3 to 2, I don't mean 9 to 6, or 21 to 14, I mean fucking "3 to 2"), and then hypnotize the world (i.e. boxing purists) into thinking it was some sort of ethereal display of the ultimate form of "ring generalship". We'll get to witness first hand, the fine art of mythmaking. He'll one-up the original magic man, Willie Pep. "Did you remember that time RiGandolf punched himself in the face 12 times, and still won the round?", people will ooooh and ahhhh for decades to come. Kellerface will drown in his own circlejerk, coming up with platitudes on how one can win a round without even showing up in the Arena, thanks to the magic of Daviellermo Copperdeaux. :goodnews:
It's a little known fact that J.R.R. Tolkien was the first person to come up with the concept of The Rigondeaux. Unfortunately it turned out to be one big cheat code that broke Middle Earth, and he had to be written out of the story. Turns out he beat the Orcs, without even leaving the shire. Sapped all the drama out of the story line. :boohoo:
I disagree. I don't think Riggo would hold up in the kind of fight Cruz would make it. If Cruz is able to fight his fight, I think Riggo will fold. He'd try to run and either Cruz would catch up with him and make him quit, or Cruz would win a decision (if Riggo manages to run the whole time). I don't have a lot of faith in Riggo ' s chin. Cruz is a much better 12 round fighter than donaire.
