Despite the fact that Cdogg overrates Starling, yes, Starling would beat Cotto. He was a better fighter than Miggy, whilst not being as accomplished. Cotto BARELY scraped by Josh Clottey, and Clottey is basically a no talent version of Starling. Starling would outbox Cotto, and beat him up en route to either a clear decision win, or a possible late stoppage if he REALLY puts his foot on the gas.
Though not tall, Starling is way too rangy for Cotto. He beats Cotto like Austin Trout did, though lands some harder shots in the process.
Starling wins because he is better than Cotto and therefore is able to punch Cotto in the face and body a lot more often than Cotto punches him. This happens over the course of many rounds until Cotto is stopped, late. MTF
MTF has entered the "No Fun Zone". He must have been watching too many Greasy Basil Sauce fights lately. That guy will hypnotize you straight into a deep depression. :blackcloud:
Not sure I agree with the consensus. i could see cotto cornering him and breaking him down . Cotto is usually really good at cutting the ring and applying pressure (The trout fight notwithstanding)
Yeah Cotto is so good at cornering guys and breaking them down, especially a guy with superior skill and toughness
I don't believe that the weight makes it irrevelant, since it was only 7 pounds (in other words, in a bullshit division that shouldn't exist). I think it was more of a case of an off night for Cotto.
