Kovalev has done narrowly more, as he has beaten the #1 rated contender (by The Ring) and a top-5ish contender, whereas GGG has beaten two guys close to top 5. GGG is clearly #1 in his division whereas there is a case for Adonis at lt heavy, but I still rank Kovalev ahead as of now.

In all likelihood the answer to the rest of questions is GGG as he is the more versatile of the two and more skillful all around

The thing that might change this however is that GGG will have difficult time of having a great career as a middleweight since at least now the division is empty. This means he might have to go up to 168 lbs and Kovalev as lt heavy might be better than GGG as a SUPER middle.

A guy to look for at 175 is Artur Beterbiev the uy who destroyed Tavoris Cloud after six fights. Him vs Kovalev in a year or two could be an explosion

Kovalev has done more, Gaybox is better.

As Ugo said though, it's possible if Gaybox does have to move up, that Kovalev is a better light heavy than Gaybox is a super middle.

As someone else noted recently, middleweight punchers don't tend to do that well at 168 for some reason.

Agreed. While Kovalev has demonstrated he's much more than a crude banger, Golovkin is to me clearly more skilled and versatile. Both are too old for that aspect to change by much. Whether or not that will reflect in who will turn out to have the better career I'm not sure.

Kov has CLEARLY beaten better opposition. That's not even debatable at this point. Hopkins could be 105, and still be better than Macklin, Geale, and Rubio.

    GGG has more natural talent.

But just because he's more talented, I'm not sure if he's BETTER. We need to see him tested.

I don't think the difference is talent, but more the skill. GGG cuts off the ring better than anybody in years, his accuracy and timing are superb, and he has even more effortless punching technique than Kovalev.

Your point still stands though; technically better doesn't mean better fighter, and that remains to be seen. Chances are on GGG's side

I'm not sure who can test either one of them now.

The only guy capable of beating either one is semi-retired.

Froch has made it clear that he ONLY wants a Chavez Junior fight. Plus, Froch would be a big underdog against both GGG, and Kov.

Stevenson is scared shitless of Kov.

Carl is significantly bigger than Gaybox, so could put up a decent fight, but he'd get battered by Kovalev.

Part of me says Froch gives GGG a good fight for a few rounds, before getting broken down. The other part of me says GGG batters him from the start. He's just too damn accurate for sloppy Carl. Plus, his left hook to the body will put Froch in a world of shit.

Kov stops Froch within 6. Even a 50 year old Hopkins is much harder to hit than Froch. Kov hits Froch at will. And given that Froch is a trash talker, Kov likely enjoys every moment of battering him. He'd smile, and do his Ray Leonard wind up right hand while beating Froch senseless.

Kovalev would beat seven shades of shit out of Froch. I think Froch gives GGG a very good fight for the first half and a bit longer, before being broken down and stopped late.

That's my line of thinking as well.

BUT, I wouldn't discount GGG beating seven shades of shit outta Froch.

If Golov hurts Froch early, he's gonna keep him hurt. This ain't Groves we're talking about here.

I think GGG is better but that Kov will accomplish more mainly because I think he will have better opportunities to accomplish more.

For sure. This version of Froch lacks the fire that made him grind it out and absorb punishment at all costs just to get a win. GGG would eventually stop him, he would crush those ribs.

while I think that GGG is a better fighter, he's done fuck all thus far, and seems to be happy to continue fighting bums. He's been a huge deception thus far.

Kovalev on the other hand has shown a real willingness to fight top opposition.

I also saw a spar where Kovalev whupped the cruiser contender Guillermo Jones. Spars usually don't mean very much, and if even half of 'reported' sparring stories were true, boxing world would look dramatically different
