I have Kovalev getting a mid rounds stoppage here. Easy work.

My bad it's actually March 14th. Dumb phone.

I'll be very surprised (and impressed) if Pascal doesnt gives trouble to Kovalev. He'll be, by far, the best opponent he'll face imo.

Pascal is fuckin garbage, and already lost to the old geezer Kov just completely dominated.

Kov is gonna give Asscal a horrific beating.

We all know Asscal has shitty stamina, and Kov just proved to HIMSELF against Hopkins that his stamina is fine.

Yeah, I can't see how Pascal is by far better than Hopkins based on their two fights and the fact that his style suits Kovalev much better. Granted, Hopkins is even older now but he still might have beaten Pascal there. Also I think Nathan Cleverly is about the same level of fighter as Pascal.

That being said, I do think Pascal will be competitive for five rounds or so before he gets broken down. He isn't THAT bad even though he gets shitted on a lot He has some all around skill and physical talent

Hopkins is worse now than when he fought Pascal, and while their fight against each other advantaged Hopkins, I feel it was more of a case of Hopkins mindfucking Pascal than being better than him. I feel that Pascal is a much more dangerous fighter than current hopkins since he's faster, stronger and hit harder. At the very least, he'll be the best combination of power and speed that Kovalev has faced. And I vehemently disagree than Cleverly is on the same level than Pascal. While Pascal is not a world beater, Cleverly is pretty much garbage.

the rule of 3 doesn't work in boxing. You've watched it long enough that you should know this by now. not to mention that the Hokins that Kovy faced was 4 years older than the one Pascal fought.

And while it's true Pascal stamina is shit, I dont' think that Kovalev barely throwing punches for 12 rounds against a decrepit hopkins, is a proof that he has good stamina.

I expect Kovalev to win this fight, but as I said, I think that it will be a lot more competitive than most seem to think it will be. Pascal is way better than the garbage that Kovalev has destroyed like campello, silakh and Agnew.

I don't agree that Pascal is better than Hopkins at any point, because let's face it, speed and power don't a great fighter make. Just look at Victor fucking Ortiz

But I do agree with JOM that Pascal is better than Cleverly without a doubt. Cleverly is a scrub at world level, he just lost to Bellend. Pascal would beat both of them comfortably.

Well, Pascal looked a lot better against Dawson than Hopkins did.

Pascal style doesn't suit Kovalev better than Hopkins one. Pascall is more explosive and quicker than Kovalev, who's no defensive wizard, so he at least has the chance to catch him and hurt him during an exchange. Hopkins had basically no advantage over Kovalev except defense, wich isn't much of an advantage if you're not throwing punches back.

Almost 600 punches isn't that bad at 175 is it? It's 50 punches a round, and most of them hard shots too.

He wasn't attacking relentlessly, but he wasn't exactly inactive either, it was a steady enough output.

Hopkins was so unthreatening, that it didn't mean much. As you know, it's a lot more exhausting to fight against someone who actually has a chance to hurt you, than against a punching bag (which Hopkins was in that fight)

Pascal is better than Hopkins at this point. Hops barely beat him 2 1/2 years ago and thats a long time when you're pushing 50.

I do not agree that Pascal is quicker and more explosive than Kovalev. Kovalev's speed is underrated. And even though Hopkins has nothing left except for his movement and intelligence, it is still difficult to attack him. Pascal exchanges much more, which IMO plays into Kovalev's hands eventually

It is a long time yeah, when you're that age. But put it this way, I wouldn't be shocked if Hopkins could still beat Pascal, and I'm also confident that Kovalev stops Pascal in 5 or 6 rounds, proving him to be a lesser foe than Hopkins.

Pascal will be dangerous. We don't know if Kov has the chin and guts of Froch. Froch fought that big Haitian slave in suicide-mode the night they fought. Froch himself said it was a fool-hardy approach. Not hard enough to please Neil, of course. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/gUZNQcKlp0g?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

No, I'm not really a Pascal fan, and I'm usually a lot more critical of Quebecer fighter than most on this forum (see Bute and Lemieux for example).

But the way Pascal is underrated on this forum is absurd. As I said, he's no world beater, but he's way better and dangerous than any fighter Kovalev fought so far.

do you find it annoying when an incredibly stupid and baseless accusation is hung on your opinions? Food for thought

well, you have to be blind or naive to think that it doesn't have any impact on the general feeling toward him.
