With some huge fights on tap in January and February to start the New Year, I thought it would be cool to get some expert predictions on who will be UFC Champions at the end of 2015. So here are the current champs. Let's see what you think this list will look like next December: HW: Cain Velasquez LH: Jon Jones MW: Chris Weidman WW: Robbie Lawler LW: Anthony Pettis FW: Jose Aldo BW: TJ Dillashaw Fly: Demetrious Johnson Women's FW: Ronda Rousey
Lawler's the OBVIOUS Choice to Be Unseated...Wouldn't Surprise REED or Anyone Else if he Lost in his Very 1st Defense, Regardless WHO it's Against... REED Still Ain't Sold on Weidman Either & Thinks Jacare Would Be a Good Test for Him...The LOWER Weights are Undoubtedly Growing in Numbers, so it Wouldn't Be All that Shocking if Dillashaw or Johnson were Beaten Either... Cain, Bones, Pettis, Aldo and Ronda All Continue to Reign Supreme in 2015, in REED's Opinion... REED:mj:
Cain, Weidman, Pettis and Rousey will be champs at the end of next year. The winner of the Jones\Cormier fight should still be champ as well. Lawler will most likely lose the rubber match to Hendricks, so I'll say Hendricks is champ going into 2016. Aldo will lose to McGregor, who will lose to Edgar. Aldo will move up in weight, challenge and lose to Pettis. Barao will beat Dillishaw and be champ at the end of the year. Mighty Mouse will be blown away by a strong gust of wind, and will never be heard from again. TFK
REED, as you know I'm a fellow Weidman hater, I can't stand that smug jock. But objectively it's hard not to be sold on him, he seems to be annoyingly hard to beat. I would be surprised if he lost anytime soon.
Agreed on Aldo, though he's probably 50/50 against McGregor, through experience alone. But Barao beating Dillashaw? That was one of the most 1 sided championship fights I've ever seen in MMA, and the single most impressive MMA performance I've seen against an elite fighter. I can't see a rematch being much different, Dillashaw should be a heavy favourite.
I agree that Cain, Weidman, Pettis and Rousey will be champs at the end of the year. Really not sure about Jones Vs Cormier. I want Cormier to win, and he seems to have the tools to do it, but if push comes to shove I have to pick Jones - he seems to be an elite fighting machine now, and probably finds a way to win. Oh and Carla will be champ too, best female MMA fighter in the world :bears:
I don't know. Something about Dillashaw makes me not buy into him. Can't say what it is, but it's there. TFK
WOW!!!... REED Sure Knows How to Pick 'em....If McGregor Beats Aldo, as REED Expects, that'll Make a Clean SWEEP of the Champions REED Thought Would Make it Thru 2015 w/their Belts... REED:bangh:
I didn't expect to see Velasquez and Pettis lose. Or Ronda. I thought Jones would still be champion too, but he hasn't lost yet. What about next year? We should post our predictions for who will still be champion at the end of 2016. Maybe after this weekend.
265 Jon Jones (Wedum beats Cain. Arlovski beats Werdum. JJ beats Arlovski) 205 Cormier (Again wins vacated JJ belt) 185 Weidman 170 Lawler 155 Russian with the funny hat 145 Edgar 135 Cruz 125 Mouse man 135 Holm 115 JJ
265 - Cain 205 - Jones (who moves up to heavyweight in 2017) 185 - Weidman 170 - Condit 155 - Pettis (in a glorious return) 145 - MacGregor 135 - I don't care Women's 135 - Ronda again 115 - Probably JJ but I haven't followed the 115 pound division I reserve the rights to change these predictions on Saturday.
My predictions aren't the same as who I want to be champion. JDS is my favorite heavyweight. I'd love to see him as champion again. I'd love to see Nick Diaz as the 170 pound champ. There's pretty much zero chance of that happening next year.
I like this. Arlovski was one of my favorite heavyweights. I don't think he has a chance of beating Cain or JDS, but I could see him beating Werdum. He's a more experienced striker with great takedown defense. Arlovski as heavyweight champion in 2016 would be fun. He still has to beat Stipe Miocic to get a title shot.
JDS is BOSS' favorite heavy too . He can be champ again as long as he stays clear of Cain. Cain is extremely overrated but seems to have JDS' number. It seems JDS can't handle striking mixed with pressure and take down threats. It's like an overload for him. Stipe was doing a poor man 's Cain and almost got it done. JDS either dictates the pace or he folds.
BOSS could see Arlovski ko'ing Cain as he comes in to put pressure on. Hell maybe even JDS too since his striking is much better than JDS' but sadly BOSS doesn't see Arlovski's chin holding up.
I could see Arlovski getting a knockout like JDS did against Cain in their first fight. Most likely Cain would win with the relentless pressure and takedowns. I'd rank Arlovsky and JDS about the same in terms of striking skills. The difference is that JDS would walk through Arlovski's best shots. Arlovski wouldn't survive big shots from JDS.
I think ink you and Gatti should both post your picks for tonight's winners so we can settle this shit like men.
Jon Jones will lose in 2016. Stephens by KO Maia by decision Jacare by something Weidman by TKO Aldo by decision
