That is what Ginger tweeted today. So the Cotto fight is officially dead at this time. I like this match with Kirkland, though. <img width="600" height="600" id="yui_3_5_1_4_1422140734021_705" style="width: 600px; height: 600px;" aria-label="Canelo Alvarez vs. James Kirkland Set for May 2 | Round By Round ..." alt="" src="http://roundbyroundboxing.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/10946312_1586553968230410_308911627_n.jpg">

Alvarez will win this one but I'll be rooting for Kirkland. Should be an entertaining fight for as long as it lasts.
While I would love Kirkland to pull an upset, I want Ginger to remain undefeated post-Floyd until he can face Cotto.
I understand that perspective but if Miguel gets the Mayweather rematch and loses (which is almost a certainty) Cotto-Canelo is worthless.
Garbage fight.....Kirkland is shit...Canelo by KO inside of 5 rounds. It's a stay busy fight don't take another L fight...
Yes, but it's also the best money fight available to Kirkland. On paper it should be entertaining (even if short) and likely gives James at least one other payday afterward. For Canelo it's all upside too. Exciting opponent/fight he gets the knockout fans want to see etc.
i disagree. if cotto is competitive with mayweather jr again then the alvarez fight is still as viable as it is now. if he beats mayweather jr he has a rubber match on the table AND a fight with alvarez.
Cotto was competitive with Floyd. Repeating competitiveness alone in a losing effort a second time around is worthless.
Cotto is going to beat Mayweather.......then Poochiao will come with his humble "hello, i like you, you nice me nice let give the nice fans a nice fight" and a catchweight of 151-152 or some shit..FUCK that...poochiao wants to THE middleweight championship of the world...he has to come get it at 160!!...157 at least...:gig:
Alvarez was more competitive with Floyd considering he went to a MD as opposed to Cotto who lost a UD
fight would have been very interesting if Kirkland had stayed active. now, I just expect him to get blown away.
The fight can still can be interesting if Kirkland can somehow survive Ginger's counters, and force him into a high-paced fight. I doubt it though. Kirkland will walk into too many counters, and his chin is too mediocre. If it were the Kirkland that beat down Angulo, I'd give him a chance. But I somehow doubt he's that fighter anymore.
This Promotion Should Be Called "Ripple Effect"... Floyd's about to Duck Pacquiao AGAIN, Which Means Cotto's Going to Fight Floyd, Which Results in Canelo vs. Kirkland... REED:hammert:
REED Doesn't Think Kirkland's Inactivity is Necessarily a Bad Thing, Given how HARD he Fights (& Spars)... There's NO Science, Technique or Precision to Kirkland's Approach...If he Relied on ACCURACY &/or TIMING, Sure, Inactivity Would Be a Factor...In Kirkland's Case, Inactivity Means he HASN'T Been Absorbing Shots or Enduring a GRUELING Ann Wolfe Bootcamp Styled Training Regimen, Which Can Be a GOOD Thing @ this Phase of his Career... Not Saying he'll BEAT Canelo, but Kirkland Should Be Pretty FRESH... REED:fightme:
Is Man Wolfe still in his corner...........:wack: She can give him really good advice like "Knock this guy out like you knocked out your $100 a week sparring partner"
Wolfe's Value to Kirkland is IMMEASURABLE...w/Out Question, she Brings THE Very Best Out of Him... Kirkland's Potential Never Has Been Much, but he's REACHING it w/Ann Wolfe in his Corner... REED:hammert:
Probably, because, as you have already alluded to, he's not about timing, accuracy or finesse. Basically, he's about being in shape. She's a good timekeeper, a good fitness fanatic. I think that's basically her knowledge of boxing, at least when it comes to imparting it in training......she keeps the guy in shape. If Kirkland had any real boxing talent, he wouldn't be honing it with her. I think sentiments like "He woulda beat up Ishida if Wolfe was there" must be based on Kirkland being more afraid of her than of Ishidas right hands...she wouldnt have shown him how to slip any of those shots.
They've Fallen Out Several Times Before, but Kirkland ALWAYS Seems to Find Himself Back "Home", @ the End of the Day... Wolfe & Kirkland have a VERY Unique Relationship...They Used to SPAR Until Kirkland Became Toooo Much (by HER Admission), @ 14 or 15...Their Backgrounds are Almost IDENTICAL & They Speak the Same "Language"...No One GETS James Kirkland Quite like Ann Wolfe Does...Nobody Involved w/BOXING, for Certain... In a WEIRD Way, their Relationship is Equal Parts, Mother-Son, Sister-Brother, Brother-Brother... Ann Wolfe DOESN'T have a Reputation for Cheating Fighters & She's Got a Gym FULL of Anonymous BUMS She Could Handpick Opponents For, & Bleed Money Out of...Kirkland's an EMOTIONAL Dude & Again, this Ain't the 1st Time him and Wolfe have Parted Ways... Don't Be Surprised If/When they Reconnect... REED:mj:
Nah... While Ann DOES Have BIOLOGICAL Children (Believe it or Not), She was FULLY Immersed in WHO She was, by the Time She Started Boxing...& James Kirkland was Literally a CHILD when they Met... No Doubt, Wolfe Chipped Away @ Kirkland's Thoughts on WOMEN, His Thoughts on GAYS & Ann Ultimately EARNED his Trust...& Being a Woman in the SOUF' Makes that DOUBLY Difficult...Especially w/a Certified, Hardcore, STREET Dude like Kirkland... REED Spoke with Ann, Not Looooooooooong, After the Ishida Loss & that was about as "Soft" as She's Ever Presented Herself, in REED's Opinion...But it was a MOTHERLY/SISTERLY Softness, as Opposed to that of a Romantic Love Interest...
