Pretty central figure in boxing at one point, not least his role in the Lewis-Rahman-King-Duffel Bag Debacle of 2001-2002. And of course there was him being the only party to be punished for the great IBF scandal. Probably a much bigger player in the Music Industry albeit around 2000 he was pretty big in boxing. http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/12251155/cedric-kushner-former-heavyweight-promoter-dies-66
Jaw dropping moment. Always a fuckin mystery when a physical Adonis like Kushner drops dead of a heart attack. It took me a good 2 days to get my head around it.......
His death came as no surprise, but usually, especially during a quiet quarter, like we are having here at fightbeat, this sort of thing would be newsworthy.
Do you guys remember, was it CKSN who had the fire in their offices and lost all kinds of fights on tape? Kushner always seemed a cool guy. Wanted that heavyweight champ, got one, and lost him 35 seconds later. King was just being King. Then Rahman made one of the worst decisions in boxing--took far less money and got starched by Lennox in the rematch. Right up there with Morrison taking a tuneup fight against Bennt. Kushner had Tua, too.
You got to wonder, would getting slapped by Mike Tyson back in the day, and not doing anything about it even make you feel like a bitch?
The Warren Commission then said that Uncle Frank had "Conjunctivitis" Warren made Tyson a lot of money back then, fighting ultra cans in England.
