While at first I thought 'please, NO!', apparently the director who wants to bring back the franchise has an interesting idea: he is not interested in remaking the first ones, continuing the plotline of the last two, nor pretending they didn't existed. Director Neill Blomkamp apparently wants to make a film that ties 'Alien' with 'Aliens'. The only possible scenario is when the colonists went to the xenomorphs planet and were wiped out by the creatures, except for the girl Newt. There was a comicbook about that story and it was amazing. On the other hand Sigourney Weaver wants to be Ripley again. Fox will most likely go with Weaver. Blomkamp might have to compromise. Unfortunately that will mean another sequel with a 65 year grandma as the heroine.
what about Prometheus 2? isn't it a bit ridiculous to have two separate series of movies running side by side
Here's an idea, tell Weaver no, I must have missed the part where she bought ownership of the Alien franchise rights.
Actually it happens a lot in Hollywood. http://twistedsifter.com/2013/04/strangely-similar-movies-released-around-the-same-time/
well these aren't 'strangely similar'...they're exactly the same shit at least with spiderman they wait a year before starting another series of movies...here they can't even do that a big step in the wrong direction imo
If this is a bunch of remakes, they should fuck off. If it is an adaptation of the comic book (which I have also read and agree was awesome), then good. MTF
The best thing about the first one was the trailer. I'll watch the trailer for the second one and stay home this time.
Personally I don't see why they have to reboot the franchise. There are a dozen stories they can come up with to have an Alien movie. There are several reasons why a whole different crew can go to the alien planet either knowingly or unknowingly to confront the aliens there. It's called original writing and how come nobody knows how to do this anymore? Oh I forgot, it's too costly to take chances on new movies or original ideas.
