I thought of this while watching a few of Dela's old fights.

Dela's style was to me never pleasing to watch - he always looked like a bit of a retard (though an effective retard). His scrubby shoeshining was pretty embarrassing, particularly when he'd hit clean air in a 15 punch combination then walk off with his hands in the air ala the Pea fight. Pissweak right hand, weird bolo left hook - his style was just annoying to my eyes.

Floyd has a very smooth style, he looks flashy, athletic and cool with the shoulder roll and well formed punches and making people miss like idiots.

Gaybox looks like he's just plodding around throwing short punches but manages to hit people continuously and destroy everyone with his leaden fists - not aesthetically pleasing, but the outcome of his fights certainly are and he's fun to watch.

    Who else?

Calzaghe and Sergio Martinez would be way up there on the most awful to watch list, for me

I agree with Martinez, not Calzaghe though. He could look awful sometimes but in other fights he looked fantastic.

Sergio Martinez I agree. Horrible style of fighting. I see what you mean about Calzaghe. Calzaghe though is soooooooo underrated, especially on this forum. The guy was good good good. Very good. My point is...I give him a pass, because of how good he was.

I agree on De La Hoya...his style was sloppy. Joe Frazier and Ken Norton had UGLY styles of fighting. Horrible. Glad they were both KTFO by Foreman....guys that fight like cavemen deserve to be knocked the fuck out.

Most pleasing - Roy, Floyd, Leonard, Curry, Sal Sanchez, in-shape Toney.

Least pleasing - Wald Pussy by FAR!!! Followed by Calz, Michael Spinks (great fighter with great power, but often ugly style), and Monzon (same as Spinks).

Bad knees doesn't help with a pleasing style.

How could you leave out Joe Louis in your "most pleasing" list. Aesthetically the most beautiful style in history. You must agree with me on Frazier and Norton. Crouching, sloppy shouldered haymaking cavemen!

    Martinez is a great example.

I actually enjoyed watching Oscar. Not sure why.

Cintron immediately came to mind for me.

Roy Jones had an UGLY style. Xplosive you must be mad. Horrible horrible style. Don't confuse brilliance with aesthetics. Michael Johnson (the runner) had a horrible style of running....but people ignore it because of his brilliance. Roy Jones' fighting style SUCKED! He had an annoying lean (reminiscent of Bob Foster...who I'll add to the list) and hung his hands down to the ground like an ape at times.

ALready mentioned...but have to say again...BOB FOSTER. That lanky dude had a cunt of a boxing style

I'm as big a Roy Jones fan as anyone. But the dude's style is not pleasing to watch. He was just brilliant at what he did. He had an awkward perpetual lean, dropped his hands low to the ground. He was lightening fast, powerful etc etc etc.....but his style was HORRIBLE, Come on man....watch a jones fight and tell me I'm lying.

Roy Jones' style was amazing and awesome to watch. It just wasn't conventional.

I've found Floyd awesome to watch in this late part of his year. I never enjoyed watching Roy much.

" It just wasn't conventional" is often a euphemism for "UGLY". Call it as it is. He was amazing to watch because of his genius, not because his style was pretty. Joe Louis...now there was "pretty" fighting.

Nah, in Roy's case, he was a pleasure to watch. Joe Louis was offensively amazing.

Hopkins earlier in his career, one of the best. Later in his career, one of the worst.

Floyd has always been a favorite

Sly is no going to any lengths possible to bolster his boyfriend at this point.

Jones had an ugly style. Leonard wasn't good defensively. Whitaker had no offense. Blah, blah, blah, anything to prop up his stripper beating butt buddy.

I think the vast majority of the forum would agree that Jones in his prime had a far more pleasing style than Floyd.

Man I think Frazier was a pleasure to watch ... The way he'd bob and weave and slip the jab and then just wallop his opponent with the left hook ... Generally a slow starter but once he got warmed up and started cranking those hooks, he was great to watch ... Norton I'd agree wasn't a pleasure to watch ... I don't think Roy was in any way horrible to watch but he wasn't a favorite of mine either

Frazier had an ugly style man. He was fun to watch in terms of his aggression and KO percentage, but that is not what this thread is about. His style was ugly. He wasn't "graceful"

Bob Foster?? Jesus, he was brilliant to watch... That jab was a thing of beauty ... If you stayed outside you got KO'd with right, if you got in close, you got KOd with the left hook

No way man... He'd make an opponent miss and then crack him clean... Beautiful ... That hook was just an amazing weapon

    lol

Perhaps we're confusing what this thread is about. By that logic, how can you criticize Calzaghe? Calzaghe made people miss and then pay. This is about the style. Bob Foster's awkward lean was ugly as sin.

Floyd is good to watch when Roger is in his corner, less so generally when his more defensive father is at the helm

Calzaghe slapped horrible fighters in horrible fights ... Joe Frazier PUNCHED good fighters in good fights ... Bob Foster was a beauty... Like a human switchblade

Sublime ... So good to watch that the only way to describe it is to use the second gayest word (sublime ... In this context, divine would be the gayest)

80's Tyson was offensive poetry in motion.

Not so much the post-prison version.
