Apparently, this is a possibility for September. If it gets made, do you give Rios a shot? He hits a little harder than Porter, and throws shorter shots. Plus I think he's a little meaner. I honestly am not impressed at all with Brook and thought his win over Poeter was bull-shit. So I would not be surprised at all if Rios wins (if it gets made).
:: Eddie Hearn.....Christ. First Frankie Gavin {OK not Hearns fault Gavin went into the tank} but now this....... Rios is not a Welterweight, never was a Welterweight, never would have been a Welterweight. Brook needs to fucking fight Khan, Mayweather, Thurman.
How much better do you think Brook is to Alvarado? The Alvarado who fought Rios in their first fight that is.
He is better but he can be tagged to the body. Rios could get on the inside and rough him up. It's a big ask though as Brook is bigger so he would likely do what he does and tie Rios up, not allowing him to work. I just think Rios would give him hell. He'd give it 110%.
Brook will beat the hell outta Rios. I honestly cannot think of a more tailor made opponent for Brook. He'll look sensational beating him.
Ain't nobody tough anymore. Brook beats this Bum back across the Rio Grande. "Eee by gum, eh up Alamo, lad"
In the UK he's perhaps overrated. On this forum everybody thinks he's garbage, so how is he overrated? I'm not fooled by Rios' last performance. He looked like a killer in the 3rd Alvarado fight because 1. The Provo beating ruined Alvarado and 2. Alvarado didn't train AT ALL. The fight before that Rios was getting outboxed by Diego Chaves until he got bailed out by a DQ. Rios will actually make Brook look better than Kell truly is.
On this forum no one thinks he's garbage, not one person. In fact everyone thinks he's pretty good, and will beat Rios easily, as evidenced by this thread ::
Any top welterweight would beat Rios easily. Brook isn't P4P material, but he's a top 5 welter. That's good enough to easily beat that punching bag.
I'm actually looking forward to this. I can't wait to see Rios get bashed again and hopefully Brook stops him.
According to Hearn this fight will be September 12th. Brook is going to grapple rios the same way he did pprter. Can rios break his clinches and put hurt on the stinky brook? Or will stinky Brook hold his way to another horrible sloppy decision like his bullshit win over porter?
Rios is a bit more methodical than Porter, though. I can see Brook looking sensational in this fight, honestly. Rios will let him get into his rhythm and when he gets inside, I think Brook will be too strong.
I would never describe rios as methodical but I get your point - porter has that jerky jerky style that is hard to time. Still, rios throws much shorter punches than Porter and works the body really well. He will have to get inside though so it comes down to how well he copes with book's clinching. Also though rios seems very susceptible to cuts. That could be a factor.
I could see Brook doing something similar to what Alvarado did in that second fight, but he'll land with more speed and power. If Rios had better head movement, I'd give him more of a shot. But he's too straight up and against Brook, that could cost him. For Rios to win, he needs to be aggressive early and fight at a fast pace, and make Brook miss some shots. He can't just let Brook get into a groove.
Based on what? Brook looked like crap to me against Porter. To me he looks like a guy who knows how to win. But easily beat Rios?
This is a test for Brook, no doubt . But Rios is a small welter and I question if he'll have enough power to make Brook panic.
Rios was a punching bag before he was shopworn, now he's even more of one... Brook is leap amateur garbage but he should be able to easily beat Rios by speed alone
I don't see how Rios has lost much. He's still the same guy he's always been - just at a higher weight. But anybody picking him to win this needs to consider that in his second to last fight he was being outboxed by Diego Chaves.
Rios is the same but fighting at 147 won't go well for him. He's small for that weight, and against bigger guys, his style will not work. I fully expect Brook to put on a spectacular looking performance.
