Jurassic World once again rule at the top of the box office and in the process shattered yet another record: the Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment dino-rama collected another $54.2 million on its third week to claim the #1 spot in a virtual photo finish win against its worthy competitor Pixar's Inside Out which came a close second with $52.1 million. With this third week in a row victory, the velociraptors also imposed a new record of the fastest film to reach $500 million domestically in just 17 days. The previous record holder was Marvel The Avengers which accomplished that feat in 23 days. At this pace it is very likely that 'Jurassic World' will also remove that same superhero film from the third spot in the All Time domestic chart.

As I mentioned before Inside Out took the second spot in a tight race, but who knows? maybe tomorrow's actual numbers might put it at #1. The Disney/Pixar film has now grossed $184.9 million domestically in 10 days.

Debuting in the third place Ted 2 came under the studio's projections of a $48 million opening and had to conform with a mere $32.9 million, much lower than the first film's $54.4 million debut. But to be fair, the first film opened with no box office competition from two juggernauts like Jurassic World & Inside Out, plus being R rated and receiving mixed to bad reviews didn't help.

Debuting in the fourth place, the PTSD canine family film Max took a healthy $12.2 million. Doesn't look like much if compared to the grosses of the first three films, but since this is a movie that was 'tossed' there before going straight to DVD and it had a very low budget, these numbers are just wonderful. The movie has good reviews and an A in Cinemascore, so it might make good profit for its makers which will hold their DVD release plans until they can milk the last dime out of it.

On the international scene, Terminator Genisys debuted one week ahead of the USA release on 1'277 screens from 10 markets and grossed a lousy $8.2 million. The early reviews have been very bad and this could be the one that 'terminates' the franchise unless the domestic numbers are spectacular. Just think about this: the Despicable Me spin-off Minions also debuted in 10 countries, but in less screens and managed to gross $36 million!!! Take THAT Arnold!

In other news, sometime between today and tomorrow Furious 7 will pass the all time worldwide record of Marvel's The Avengers and will claim the third spot in the ATR list pushing the superhero flick to the number four spot. I watched the first 10 minutes of 'Furious 7' and quit since it looked like a live-action Road Runner cartoon.
