According to some local press, Golovkin's camp is negotiating with David Lemieux's camp to schedule a fight. Apparently, it's close to be done because Lemieux has posted on his twitter feed : @lemieuxboxing: Destructive forces about to collide :) can u feel the excitement!! I guess Golovkin should take this but this is interesting nonetheless, if only for Lemieux's power, which is legit IMHO.
I was hoping DL was going to take another fight because I still see him as a fighter that could use more polishing. Having said that this is still a great fight. Some people here are thinking GGG is the heavy favorite. I don't see it that way. My only concern is DL completely crumbling as soon as GGG touches him with anything half decent. BUT, i get the feeling DL really thinks he can win and he really is going to go after GGG. There is no reason not to think that DL can get their first with his punches before GGG. I know Irish thinks his power is really crap but I still think its good enough to put GGG down. I'm not ready to make a prediction yet. I would like to see how their camps go and where the fight will be. Anyhow this is almost like a 4 man tourney taking place. Cotto vs Canelo and GGG vs DL. Winner vs Winner. I can't wait
Lemieux is fun to watch, aggressive with some pop, but Gaybox is just so accurate that he'll chop old mate down.
LePeux has almost no chance in this one. His only chance is a lucky shot GGG doesn't see. LePeux punches far too wide and winds up his shot. GGG will counter him down the middle and it will be night night. Plus, I'm not sure if LePeux can take a good shot based on how Rubio was able to hurt him. LePeux is a C+ fighter at best.
Having HEAVILY Criticized GGG'S Resume, REED Admittedly Likes this Fight... Lemieux MIGHT Have a 10-15% Chance of Winning, but it'll Be VERY Interesting to See What Happens If/When he Catches GGG Flush... REED
I guess we'll see what type of draw golovkin is vs an opponent most think he'll destroy. Ppv should be $40-50 so that should be taken into consideration as well. 250k is the break even point I've read. I expect a sellout at msg
REED LIKES the Matchup Itself, yet has ZERO Interest in Watching that Shit on PPV... GGG's Braintrust has OVERRATED his Worth as a "Draw" for Several Years Now...Again, Selling Out the REASONABLY PRICED Stub Hub Center DOES NOT Make You a Certified "Draw"...& the ONLY Way GGG Sells Out MSG is if he's Fighting in the SMALL Room... He's NOT Going to Even Approach Miguel Cotto MSG #'s, Dude...Not w/Out Facing Cotto, That Is... REED:mj:
agREED. The irony is LePeux is a much bigger draw in Canada than GGG is here. The fight is better suited in Montreal or Quebec. This is a case where LePeux is the A side.
If golovkin was with michel and fought in Canada instead of here for a few years he'd be a huge draw there too. They just have a good infrastructure promotion wise
LePieux was KO'd by the Mexican Vitiligo spokesperson then outboxed by journeyman Joachim Alcine. He hasn't beaten an A or B level fighter and won a vacant title. C+ he is. With that said, I'd LOVE for him to starch GGG. Would be hilarious. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/uqqZE9M_UpQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I really can't understand why Muzse and REED dislike Golov. Maybe the hate is for his groupies. As for Lemieux, I think his last two fights have proven that he's improved since the Rubio and Alcine fights. Does that make him a great fighter? No. But you have Neil, who picked both Rosado and N'Dam to defeat him, and he beat the fuck outta both guys. Lemeiux would be a very live threat against the likes of Canelo or Cotto. I just don't give him much chance here, because Golov is a cut above Canelo/Cotto.
If lemieux didn't improve since he lost to Rubio and alcine he wouldn't have beat rosado or ndam. I'd say he is now a B or B- fighter
Muzse I don't get cuz golovkin is basically in a similar position as Mosley was at lightweight. Except the he can still make 160 comfortably and there is no huge money opponent for him to jump weights after
Neither REED nor I dislike GGG. What we're saying is that at the moment his hype is similar to Edwin Valero. His sparring stories are better than his actual fights. We want to see it in the ring not hear second hand stories or project how he'd do. Show up, fight and shutup. The fact that his management team think they have a position to ask Andre Ward to come down to 164 for a fight is ridiculous. Whether you like Ward or not his resume shits on GGG. Even if you take Ward's fights with Green and Bika...those were better fighters than anyone GGG has beaten. That's simply how it is. "However" pointing this out qualifies REED and I as guys who don't like the guy.
