Just read that this fight is close to being done. Also read that Cherry Garcia was offered fights with both, and instead opted for Guerrero. In any case, Thurman by decision is the safe bet in this fight.
Garcia was up top of the world after the Matty Ice win, and has spent the last 2 years blowing all of his momentum. Only top fighter he's faced since then is Peterson, who most of us thought he lost to. Now he's gonna follow up fighting a washed up Paulie by fighting a washed up Guerrero. And his father will continue to run his mouth about Golovkin's opposition...
ONLY entertaining thing about Cherry Garcia vs Guerrero is to see those two scumbags Angel Garcia and Ruben Guerrero go at eachother.
What's sad is that Cherry Garcia would beat Porter, and him and Thurman would be close to a 50-50 fight. But I guess Garcia doesn't want any parts of top welters.
I think Team Garcia know that Danny probably loses to the top guys at 147. They're gonna keep him on easy street similar to how Khan is at 147. They're clearly hoping to cash out on a big fight and nothing more.
The Garcia's give no fuck...they won't fight anyone worth a damn unless they are SURE...100% May, Pac and/or even Cotto n Canelo won't come knocking at their doors with a multi million dollar fight...real grimey bunch. If the winner of Cotto vs. Canelo show any interest in fighting Danny....they will jump on it asap...better to get battered and destroyed for 4-5 million...than get slap around for 1 million by the likes of Spence and Thurman... but Porter..? Are they that uncertain about their chances? PORTER....:dunno:
there's a step between the guys he's been fighting and the porters and thurmans of the world. it is time for him to start fighting them.
Ideally, I'd like to see him fight a fellow unbeaten guy like Sadam Ali, but due to promotional reasons that won't happen.
I myself am at a loss for words. Porter is coming off a high profile win, is in the mix, plus small and beatable. But by the same token, Garcia didn't really make an impression when he beat Paulie. Porter did destroy Paulie easily. Maybe there's something to that.
the guy he is fighting is a scrub? Id say van heerden is a clear step up. he can only fight those willing to step in the ring
