Maravilla (2014) This documentary briefly tells the story of Sergio 'Maravilla' Martinez but its main emphasis is the controversy surrounding the WBC stripping him of the WBC title and handing it to Sulaiman's godson, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The shenanigans of the promoters and tv networks to make more money in the face of an obvious injustice to the Argentinian boxer and ultimately the fight with Chavez Jr. This documentary somehow echoes the current situation between the WBC, GGG & their favorite Mexican boxer, Canelo Alvarez. it is almost like history repeating itself. In this documentary we witness the struggles of Martinez and his rags to riches road which was never easy even when he was at the top. Unlike other similar documentaries it showcases the highlights of each one of the 12 rounds of the Chavez Jr fight mixed with the reactions of his family back in Argentina in their modest home. It was edited in a way it feels like a Rocky movie with sound effects when a hard punch lands and instrumental music to elevate the mood. Very good documentary for boxing fans and non-boxing fans alike. 8/10
