Although MM is in the title this belongs on this forum.

It's not a mythical matchup but it's a discussion on a prospective fight between two guys in which any outcome is likely: ie a KO for one or the other , a wide decision, a close decision or a draw. Any outcome is feasible.

One that springs to mind is Louis vs Holmes

    Louis could KO Holmes
    Holmes could KO Louis
    Louis could outpoint him
    Holmes could outpoint him
    Draw

    All conceivable outcomes.

    Others?

    lewis vs. bowe

most people (including me) pick lewis to win this. however, given lewis's track record with the likes of mercer and rahman (not to mention mccall), it is crazy to dismiss bowe's chances either of kayoing or outpointing lewis. on the other hand, lewis of course would have been capable of knocking out bowe or out-pointing him. and a draw is certainly conceivable as well with bowe controlling mid distance (as mercer did), but with lews landing the bigger shots.

    Hearns - Eubank. Hmmmmm

Not sure I see Hearns stopping Eubank and I don't see Eubank winning a decision against Hearns. Both of those outcomes are possible but unlikely. I don't think it qualifies

    Frazier vs Marciano.

Although a Frazier by KO is unexpected I think it wouldn't be a complete surprise. All other outcomes are equally probable.

    Good topic!

The common thing with most of these I think is that the overall better fighter has the worse chin

Yup. Also, and perhaps more importantly, both are vulnerable yet formidable.

I guess The Duran might quit in disgust if you staged it in a 30 foot ring and had charlie francis train spinks

I don't think many will agree, but Tyson Ali belong in that category imo.

I can see it although Tyson knocking out Ali would most likely be a ref stoppage. Not to say it would have to be Richard Steele premature style but probably not something "clean".

I can't see Tyson knocking out Ali unless it's pre Liston Ali.

Seriously though I don't see anyone knocking out the Ali of 1965-1975

Hearns would kick Eubank's overrated ass. That's by FAR the most probable outcome.

It's highly likely that Eubank stops Hearns late. Most likely scenario IMO. Eubank's chin at 160lbs was second only to Hagler in recent decades..and his punch was serious! Hearns wouldn't take too many Eubank punches but Eubank could take quite a few of Hearns' (he wouldn't enjoy them, but he'll survive them).

Even though he lost to Mayorga I can't see Forrest losing a decision to Cuevas. Mayorga was wild, aggressive, rangy and busy. Cuevas was more compact and mechanical.

It's probably the least likely of the outcomes but I wouldn't write it off. Many judges prefer the guy coming forward and one hard punch can sway a round. Throw in a couple 10-8's and it's well within reason Cuevas has the edge on the cards.

I think Marciano was awesome, but the guy was a fucking Cruiserweight... Frazier would move him around as he pleased

Cuevas was also way better than Mayorga and Forrest was way worse than Hearns

If Cuevas could hit Forrest clean and often enough to win rounds it wouldn't go the distance and probably the other way around in the long run as well.

I believe you're right, I'm just thinking of it terms where Cuevas is already getting points for being the aggressor and lands a few good blows that earn him rounds he would have otherwise lost. If he lands clean and often it's not going the distance.
