A glass cannon is someone with tremendous destructive ability but very low durability, as the term suggests. Give me your best examples of glass cannons in boxing. The further the discrepancy between punishment delivery ability (power mainly) and chin/heart/durability the better the example. Let's see who comes up with the best examples. I'll start: Tommy Morrison Michael Moorer Mark Breland
Would Julian Jackson fit on this list? I haven't seen enough of his fights. All of his losses were by KO, many times early........but they were to either very bad men, or at the end of his career.
Michael Moorer doesn't quite fit, as he was 'the Cannon' and 'the Glass' in different divisions In lt. heavy he knocked everybody out and didn't seem vulnerable In heavies he got knocked around and never was really a puncher I think Hide, Morrison and Shavers are great picks, as is Cintron How about Six-heads Lewis?
I don't know how much of a cannon Cintron was. Chiquita Gonzales is a good pick I think. He created and received brutal KO's in a division not known for power.
I don't think Jackson had a bad chin, per say. Definitely wasn't a chin to write home about, but it wasn't THAT bad. I'd say he had a mediocre to decent chin. Can't hold many of his late KO losses against him. Dude was fucking blind in one eye near the end.
Nigel Benn is borderline. Certainly his punch was always much better than his chin, and he was rather vulnerable, but he doesn't quite make this list IMO because of his heart and the act that he survived McClellan and Barkley and went deep with Eubank twice.
Nigel Benn doesn't belong on the list, nor does Herbie Hide. Pele Reid is the British Winner, perhaps even David Price. Benn could take a shot just not too many of them. His losses to top-drawer fighters like Eubend and Watson was down to exhaustion and attrition.
I can think of two. First, he now holds the all-time hw record of years as an active fighter who hasn't gone down in a fight. Atm it is eleven, surpassing Ali, Foreman or whoever. To achieve that, he has stopped being a cannon of any sort. Or would you, of all people, call him 'a cannon'? So Wlad is almost the worst possible example of a glass cannon.
Its true that with all the puncher and atg he faced, this record really prove that wlad is a hard though man. Especially considering how often he got hit. And yes, as much as i despise wlad, i cAn admit that he was/is very dangerous offensively.
