looks like the top fighter on the planet will return september 10th in Carson, California vs unbeaten champion Carlos Cuadras (35-0-1 27KOs) for a title in his fourth division.
Only Certainty in Boxing is "Chocolatito" is THE Best Fighter in the World, Currently... Cool that a Guy his Size, who Doesn't Speak English, is Getting the EXPOSURE he Does from HBO, and Other Prominent American Entities...He's an Absolute PLEASURE To Watch... REED:hammert:<strike></strike>
Its official Sept 9th : Gonzalez-Sor Rungvisai, Cuadras-Estrada and Inoue-Nieves on HBO, triple-header 'Boxing After Dark'.. not sure who nieves is, but thats a helluva card
REED WANTS Chocolatito to Win, but is Hard Pressed to Think of What he Can Do Different in the RE...REED Thought the 1st Bout was a DRAW, Best Case Scenario for Chocolatito...Rungvisai DID NOT "Lose" that Fight, for Certain... Maybe a Ref to Warn/Penalize Rungvisai for Headbutts More Often MIGHT Help, But Aside from that, Rungvisai was the Bigger, Stronger, More Athletic Guy, and he Got the Better of the Vast Majority of the Early Exchanges... If Chocolatito Reverses Fortunes and WINS, that Just Might Be Enough to Restore his Spot Atop the Pound for Pound List...He's NOT a True Super Fly...He Has LESS Definition, MOVES More Deliberately and Doesn't HURT Guys More Readily @ 115, as he Did @ Lower Weights... A Convincing WIN in this Bout Would Be VERY Impressive in REED's Opinion... REED Thinks Cuadras-Estrada Could Become that NEXT Classic Pairing of Mexican Warriors, in the Barrera-Morales, Marquez-Vazquez Mold...No Dog in that Hunt, Just Looking Forward to a Good Fight... Inoue Is Basically Being SHOWCASED in REED's Opinion and Will Perform Accordingly... REED
Maybe I need to rewatch that fight, but I thought Rungvisai won clearly as I watched it live, and wondered if he'd get jobbed. I was really surprised when people were screaming robbery etc afterwards.
I'll have my eye on the little fellas this weekend. Will definitely be watching. Not on the same level as the HBO card, but Friday night on Showtime, David Benavidez looks become the youngest supermiddleweight champion in history. He's only 20.
agREED... Like REED Said, BEST Case Scenario for Chocolatito was a DRAW...Not Sure What Neil and Xplosive were Watching... Here's REED's Post After Watching the Fight: Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez vs Sor Rungvisai... BEST Case Scenario for Chocolatito was a Draw...Coupling Rungvisai's Size/Strength Advantage w/a Southpaw Style BOTHERED Chocolatito, Quite Clearly...He Consistently BEAT Chocolatito to the Punch and Got the Better of Most of the Early Exchanges... Though Never Hurt Chocolatito was MOVED by the Sheer Force of Runvisai's Punches Throughout...Dropped w/a Body Shot and UPROOTED from his Stance, on Several Other Occasions...Rounds 1 and 2 were CLEARLY Rungvisai's and REED Gave him 3 and 4 as Well, Though Both were ADMITTEDLY Close... Chocolatito Won Round 5 Big, Won 6 Also...8 Was Close, but REED Scored it for Chocolatito...9, 10 and 12 were Pretty Clear for Chocolatito...Round 11 was the Sixth Round REED Scored for Rungvisai, so Right Then and There, the BEST Chocolatito Could Do was a Draw...Ultimately, it Boils Down to How You Scored Rounds 3, 4 and 8, but Chocolatito Categorically DID NOT "Defeat" Rungvisai...REED Ain't Sure he'd Win a RE Either... Chocolatito Seems to Have Plateaued @ Super Fly...Doesn't Have the Same SNAP on his Shots and Considering his Somewhat METHODICAL Footwork, that's NOT a Good Thing...Rungvisai was Better in the Pocket AND Showed Superior Wheels from about the 8th Onward...The Constant Butts were Unfortunate and Probably DELIBERATE, but More Importantly, Rungvisai's a BAD Matchup for Chocolatito, @ 115... REED
You say best case was a draw but openly admit enough rounds were questionable that Chocolito could've won.
I was always a bit bamboozled by people proclaiming Gonzalez P4P #1 tbh. He has to be the worst supposed P4Per ever, by some margin.
yeah, shows how a lot of people are only parroting what HBO is claiming. Most people that had him p4p#1 couldn't name more than 3 fighters he beat
Still as confused as ever my little idiotic friend. First of all, he beat 3 fighters on the card, not 4. And most importantly. what doest it have anything to do with what I said you simpleton?
That's NOT What REED Said, but Given Your SPECIALTY In Taking Snippets of what was ACTUALLY Said, and Formulating Your OWN Version of the Words Presented, REED Can't Say He's Surprised... REED
Nah, he was Deserving... At that Time There was DISARRAY in the Ranks...Loma was Sittting on 5-6 Fights (with an L), Triple G's Resume was Shit, Canelo was Basically "Ducking" Triple G and Ward was Taking Tune Up Fights to Prep for Kovalev... By Comparison, Chocolatito was Undefeated, 4-Weight Champion, Stellar Resume and was DOMINANT In his Performances... REED
But ultimately P4P is a who beats who list, and I'd pick most of the other top fighters to beat Gonzalez without a second thought.
This I dunno about. I have mixed feelings... I do feel he was being overrated cause some people were acting like he was on his way to unseating Duran/Chavez as the best Latin fighter ever. However, he was definitely up there a on the P4P list a few years ago, and for a briefing time deserving of #1. And by top guys being better, which guys do you mean? Chocolatito is DEFINITELY a different level fighter than Crapnelo, for instance. Crapnelo dreams he had Gonzalez's skills. He's also a bit better than Golov by virtue of being more dynamic. TRUTHFULLY, in the past 5 years, the best fighter in boxing on a who beats who level has been Rigo... but inactivity, age, and his style has hurt his standing. But when he was his best, I'd consider him a superior fighter P4P to Gonzalez, Ward, Golov, Crawford, ect..
