I mean even if you take into account the dive fights, what Honey Roy did that night....couldn't be done.
It's Been 10 Years or More Since REED Wasted his Time on a Casual Boxing Fan... Who the Fuck Wants to Argue w/Motherfuckers like THIS???... "Motherfuckers Don't Know SHIT about Boxin' " - Uncle Roger REED:hammert:
nothing trumps when this guy claimed mayweather jr is the greatest of all time. "better than ray robinson?" i asked "yea, that guy lost to robert duran"
Yup. And people think Torres went down because of Caine. Truth is, Torres ain't want no part of Honey Roy.
Yes. I went to a PPV party for the Canelo-Smith fight and heard all the usual fill ins. "Are these guys in De La Hoya's weight class? ....cos they should fight him next!" "When's Tyson gonna fight again?...he's still fighting, right?" "Connor McGregor could probably fuck both these guys up at the same time! Cos he kicks and does everything. These guy just punch!" :yuk2:
You shoulda played along and said "You ever seen the fight when Ray Leonard made Jake Lamotta say No Mas?"
Listening to casual sports fans talk about boxing like they have a clue is annoying...it's even worse when you are on a boxing forum, presumably with hardcore boxing fans, and they are idiots. Like some of the stupid shit you will read on ESB or Boxing Scene. "Mayweather is the best ever, sports has evolved, would Jesse Owens outrun Usain Bolt?" "Trinidad would not be able to withstand a great boxer like Canelo" "Amir Khan is the complete package other than his chin" "Simon Brown would have no chance against Miguel Cotto....Cotto is the greatest PR fighter ever, he won titles in 4 divisions" I rarely ever post or even read stuff on other forums because of how stupid people are. It's either being stupid, or just blindly defending one fighter for whatever reason........low self esteem, no father figure, latent homosexuality, etc....
To be fair, it's not only boxing that people are ignorant about. It may be worse so with it being a niche sport. but you will always read and hear dumb things when it comes to sports. Almost every single time I read something about Tim Tebow on ESPN, there are people in the comments section who swear he was blackballed from the NFL due to an Anti-Christian bias. :: And not the fact that he throws like this: <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qUYftLla5vs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe>
Casual fan is at one end of the spectrum and on the other end you have the guy who thinks he's such an expert (Bert Sugar-esque) that he has to denigrate Muhammad Ali completely out of the top 10 ever P4P just because he's well known by the casual fans. I hate conformists and non-conformists just the same....
I obviously don't support the anti-Christian thing or that he was blackballed but Tebow proved himself to be a winner in Denver. He took over a team that was going NOWHERE in 2011 and ended up taking them to the playoffs (yes they won the division with an 8-8 record that year.) They beat the #1 defense (Steelers) in the first round of the playoffs. The next year the Broncos got Peyton manning so that was it for Tebow. The 2011 Broncos may have been the most exciting team in history. Six straight fourth quarter comebacks and an overtime win in the playoffs. This with a team that went 4-12 the year before and was headed that way again with Kyle Orton at QB. Tebow's college career = two national championships and a Heisman Trophy. It's comical that people still try to paint him as a loser.
