    Good Find...

To Watch Joshua Box and the DELIBERATE Nature of his Footwork, it'd NEVER Occur that he Possesses THAT Much Straight Away Speed...

    VERY Impressive...

You can see at the results at the end of the video. Some dude called Robbie Grabbarz, from google, he's a british high jumper.

BTW, not too surprised to see Joshua doing well in these kind of events. It's obvious that he's a tremendous physical specimen. Sad that he can't box :(

Explosiveness is one type of a physical talent. A guy who has plenty of explosive power usually does well in several sports. Weightlifters are usually fast, they jump well and can throw a ball far, the same with long jumpers etc.

Joshua is exceptionally explosive even for a fighter. To be succesful he meefs a different kind of boxing technique compared to somebody with different attributes, but not everybody understands that

Lol, sure, now Joshua (a guy who started boxing less than 8 years ago) style is so subtle and crafty that only higher boxing minds as you can discern it.

He didnt say it was subtle and crafty, he said it was one designed to take advantage of his physical type

So basically, he's arguing that Joshua is better served by boxing stiffly using only basic combos than he would by actually learning the craft ???

Probably yes. If he used more movement or upper body movement, which burns plenty of energy, which is not good for a guy with heavy muscles.

If he threw more combos close, he would leave himself more open. Of course, you need to take risks in boxing, but not unnecessary ones.

If your big shots are enough to KO your opponent, why SHOULD you use some difficult and subtle moves?

This is just the problem: a fighter has to create a style that suits him. Muhammad Ali and George Foreman both did basic errors, but neither would necessarily have done any better had they actually learned the craft. Nor would they have been successful had they copied each others styles-

Now, if you want to argue that Joshua's style is not beautiful, that I can see

I think Joshua's improvement has been pretty continuous and marked. His punch variety seems pretty good to me. Don't really get the beef

Now you're clearly losing the plot, since you're making the assumption that AJ style will always work since it has worked so far against the bums he fought. Having skills and learning crafty moves is never a disavantage.

    Neither Does REED...

Not to Mention, Heavyweights are KNOWN for Maturing SLOWER than Others, so Given Joshua's Age, he's AHEAD of the Curve in REED's Opinion...

Showing improvement against the guy he fought is not exactly impressive to be honest. AJ seems like a good fighter with good potential, but the hype and accolade he's getting for lighting up a few bums is absurd.

Joshua has a lot going for him, but to say he has 'good punch variety' is daftness. I'm going to see if I can rewatch his last fight and have a look to check that I haven't misremembered his masterclass of punch variety against a glorified heavybag.

    R.1

No. of uppercuts thrown - 1
No. of non 1-2 combos thrown - 3
No. of body shots thrown - 1
No. of left hooks thrown - 2 (if you count a pair of jabs turned into hooks late in the punch)
No. of 1-2 combos to the head - lost count. Literally dozens.

Loves throwing the straight right when miles out of range, does AJ. Pulls it loads of times when he sees how far away he is.

    r.2

AJ throws two decent-ish combos in the first 30 seconds.
Throws nothing bar straight 1-2s for the next two minutes.
Lands one at 0.30. Brazil is hurt. AJ throws a series of wild, headhunting combos. Gets a tagged a few times through being too wide with his attempted hooks.

Basically, in the first 5.30 mins of the fight he threw four non 1-2 combos, four uppercuts, three body punches and less than half a dozen hooks. He literally threw about 100 straight left and right hands. When he had the other man hurt he started to throw some different shots, with varying effect.

    'Punch variety' my hole.

Well with Wlad you sometimes have to wait six rounds for the first hook... it's all relative with the heavies...

Right, but you can't say it won't work either as guy like Joshua is not supposed to look like Larry Holmes in the ring
