EASILY Ali-Foreman. EASILY. Given the magnitude of the fight, the overwhelming odds against Ali, the fact that he regained the title (something nobody ever thought he'd do), the way he took George apart then dropped him, it doesn't get any better or more meaningful.

Douglas-Tyson, given the fact that the odds were so heavily stacked against Douglas and the fact that he had lost his mother. Yes, Tyson wasn't 100% right, but it was an unbelievable performance and achievement from Douglas.

Id also go with Douglas KO10 Tyson.

Tyson was far and away seen as most destructive and invincible boxer at the time...whatever ´issues´ were going on.

The climate definitely means a lot. But given that Louis wasn't the huge underdog Ali was, and given that Schmeling couldn't carry Foreman's jock, I can't place it as a bigger achievement than Ali-Foreman.

I think that the only two contedners are Ali-Foreman and Douglas-Tyson. Hard to pick a winner among these two.

No love for Jack Johnson defeating Tommy Burns in 1908 to become the first black man to win the Heavyweight Championship?

It's huge historically, but as a boxing match, everybody knew Johnson would beat him any way he chose, total mismatch

The thing is about Ali beating Foreman was a) Ali's age and b) Foreman's destructiveness.
If we look who that destructiveness had been dished-out to (a whole host of cans, and Frazier & Norton), it becomes less of an amazing victory...that is, everyone saw a Foreman victory purely because he'd swept aside the two git's that gave Ali most trouble.
    Flawed logic.

The Douglas victory tops this because a) Douglas' anoniminty and b) Tyson's 3+ years of destruction of everyone in the heavyweight division

REED Isn't Sure Who was Favored in the RE, but Schmeling KO'ed Louis in their 1st Bout...

Given That, Schmeling's Alleged Association w/Adolph Hitler, World War I, and the Fact Joe Louis Became THE 1st Universally EMBRACED Black American Athlete, and REED Thinks it's Pretty HARD to Top...

Jeffries did very well, he was an old alcoholic and still gave a very good account.

Jeffries was probably the only half-live guy Johnson fought.

Plus I don't think he was the underdog even though he lost the first fight...
