Does Ali have enough in the tank to out-box a game Ray Mercer?

Mercer was tough as fuckin nails, and had good power, BUT... he was lacking in boxing IQ and always had questionable stamina.

Plus, he had a bit of dog in him.

Even a washed up Ali beats him.... on smarts, heart and endurance alone.

mercer beats the fuck outta ali at that point

he'd be in shape for the fight. of course if she showed up without training like when he was begging the boogeyman to take a dive he could lose to that version of ali

The Ali of the 96 Olympics would beat The Black Whino.

All he has to do is hit that sleep button on the top of his head that Oquendo found.

Obviously Mercer wins. OBVIOUSLY. People seem to forget that Ali in 1978 lost to Leon Spinks of all people. Mercer wasn't a great fighter but he was quite a bit better than Spinks.

Exactly. Mercer was a pretty dumb fighter. Him beating even a washed up Ali isn't a given.

Mercer was one of those odd guys who could either look horrible (Holmes, Ferguson, Wilson) or really bloody good (Lewis). Knowing that, I might have to go with Ali here, I think the horrible Mercer shows up.

Holmes was a much better old fighter than ali. He wasnt relying on his speed and reflexes as much as ali
