In recent interview GGG said that he chose to brawl with Brook last time out and that now he will fight more carefully.

We often get to read previews such as 'if X landed on him, imagine what Y will do'.

How much do you think a fighter can really change his approach between bouts? And can GGG do it here? Does he even need to?

Oscar showed that a fighter can change his approach between fights (vs Quartey compared with vs Trinidad). GGG can do it, but he doesn't have to. His chin is solid. He can walk through the fire and get to his man, same speed.

jacobs is fast, offensively skilled and can punch hard. i expect golovkin to come out at a measured and careful pace looking to establish his jab like he did against lemieux.

I think elite fighters are capable of switching it up, yeah. I'm one of those people who thinks that GGG isn't bullshitting when he says he didn't mind taking a few shots off Brook as he knew he wouldn't be able to hurt him, it left Brook open for counters, and it made the fight more entertaining for the fans. I don't think he'll be shipping the same punches against Jacobs.

I really don't think Jacobs has much of a chance. His chin is really bad. If you get dropped by the latin snake, it doesn't bode well.

jacobs best chance is to land bombs early and KO the guy. if he thinks he is gonna outbox golovkin and last 12 with that chin of his he is sadly mistaken

I'm not impressed by Jacobs at alll. But GGG looked so awful vs Brooks that an upset, while surprising, wouldn't make me fall down my seat

If Jacobs had a reliable chin, I would have picked him to win, actually. But he doesn't so I don't. You have to figure that GGG will catch him and finish him off eventually. I think Jacobs will be winning the fight though as long as it lasts.

GGG is a much better boxer than Jacobs. Jacobs might be able to nick a round or two but Golovkin's jab will have him under control quickly.

Agreed. Jacobs might do well early by out-hustling GGG for a moment but sooner or later the difference in actual skill will show.

I also believe that Golovkin will be careful in his approach as he was againt Lemieux and unlike against Brook. That however will only prolong the inevitable

People often seem to forget that, especially when it's an underdog that's competitive.

I am actually kind of surprised Jacobs took this fight. Couldn't he have instead milked a bunch of dates from Showtime the way Kid Chocolate did?

Evidently. I don't imagine he is making that much more than he could've for a few gimme fights on Showtime, but i could be wrong. If i am not, that is reason enough to root for him to win.

Jacobs really isn't a very good boxer. Yes, he has good size, handspeed, and power, but Golov is actually the better technical boxer of the two... by far.

Agree. Jacobs isn't a level below GGG, he's at least two levels below. I don't expect Jacobs to win any rounds against Golovkin, but if he does, it may mean Jacobs wins the fight because it will be from catching and hurting GGG.

Not ordering this fight. PPV fights should be close on paper. Both main fights are not.

Still wondering why GGG asked for MSG instead of the Barclays Center because the Knicks/Rangers owner James Dolan charges a massive television/PPV fee as opposed to the Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov

Does anyone here plan to order this fight? Seems like it could be a real waste of money.
