    Fate of the Furious
opened to a smashing $100.1 million domestic debut, which is $20 million less than it was projected and $47 million less than the last chapter in the franchise. However, unlike any other before, this new entry had the biggest international debut ever thanks to the China box office were it made an unheard of $190 million in that country alone. That puts 'Fate of the Furious' with a three day worldwide opening of $532.5 million leaving in the dust the prior record set by Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens with $529 million. Well, these are estimates and tomorrow the final numbers will be released and we will know for sure since, after all, a $3 million difference is not that big.
In a distant second spot the two weeks winner The Boss Baby took $15.5 million for a current domestic total of $116.3 million while Beauty and the Beast claimed the third spot with $13.6 million for current domestic total of $454 million. By the next weekend it will have pushed out from the All Time Top 10 domestic films the original 1977 Star Wars which kind of pisses me off as that film once reigned for years as the #1 All Time box office champion. Watching it leave the top ten list pushed by a pussy mediocre film is just not fair. Back to 'Beauty' numbers, the film already surpassed the $1 billion worldwide mark and stands as 2017 biggest grosser of the year...for now.
In the fourth spot The Smurfs: The Lost Village continues bleeding profusely as it had a second week gross of $6.5 million foe a whooping $24.7 million current total while its worldwide total is $95 million. This might be the end of the Smurfs as a film franchise unless when it opens in China it pulls a 'Furious 8' like debut. Unlikely.

Round up the top five the seniors heist comedy Going in Style took $6.3 million for a $23 million total. Hardly a hit by any stretch of the imagination, but since it cost only $25 million, it might not lose much at the end of its run.

    tidbits:
    * A Case of the Christ in 10 days has made $8.4 million which is not much, but for a film that cost less than $3 million and practically zero publicity this current total numbers is a healthy one and its release time (Easter week) was well calculated.
    * Ghost in the Shell departed the top ten list and has a current domestic total of $37 million versus a $110 million budget. While that sounds really bad, some have taken comfort in that it made more than Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, but these people only look at 'Resident Evil' domestic number of $26 million. They are ignorant two big differences between these two films: 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter' had a budget of just $40 million vs 'Ghost in the Shell' $110 million. AND the 'Resident Evil' film grossed worldwide $312 million!!! How come? China. They LOVE those films there. It took $159 million there. If the producers have any brain they will pay Milla Jovovitch double her salary to come back for one more and will put her character battling zombies in China with the aid of Donnie Yen.

I'll be honest with you jokers: if you force me to choose to watch one film tonight between 'Fate of the Furious' and \Resident Evil: The Final Chapter' I will not think twice and watch 'Resident Evil' because at least its physics defiant stunts happen within a scifi/fantasy/horror setting based on a videogame while 'Furious' is supposed to be grounded in reality.

Fate of the Furious was a great addition. This franchise knows what it's doing and delivers time and time again. The cars in the street scene was very fun.

And Theron is begging me to fuck her.

I watched it Saturday night and although it was pretty long, it was eminently watchable.
    Great fun.

These fucks probably watch it and go ´Oh god. How could that happen? A car flying through a skyscraper!!´ :palm:

I wasnt a fan of the first one either. The second one was garbage. The third one was my favorite and is what saved the franchise. And they have been great ever since.

    I´ve liked everyone from:
    Fast Five
    Fast and Furious 6
    Furious 7

    The Fate Of The Furious

This franchise really took off with the introduction of DSS Luke Hobbs played by The Rock.

Anthony´s favorite, The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift has little to do with the franchise really but maybe works as a standalone movie...it has none of the characters that anyone and everyone know and love.

Not true. It has Khan. And of course it will be a sandalone. It's comes way later in the timeline.

Son, attaching the word 'great' to any film in this franchise is an insult to any great film ever made. I watched the first Fate of the Furious trailer and every time someone said 'family' (like 7 times?) I was cringing my teeth like if someone was nail scratching a chalkboard! I mean how dumb is this franchise that every single 'villain' they confront turns into a 'family' member on the next one? :bangh: And they have no problem resurrecting dead characters either with no Star Trek Genesis planet to make possible those resurrections!:palm:

In terms of action movies it's great. This is no different than the ridiculous Commando, Rambo, Cobra, Predator movies out there.

lol The God with the Golden Locks fighting the big green dude is more plausible than a street racer chasing bad guys with his car with amazing drift skills.
