147lbs is IMO the deepest division historically in terms of talent. What's your who beats who top ten list? Now boxing is a tricky game in terms of who beats who because it's a bit of a Rock Paper Scissors in some sense so in some cases base your list in order of the logic who you think would on their best nights beat the greater number of other welterweights in history.

    1. Ray Leonard
    2. Thomas Hearns
    3. Floyd Mayweather Jnr
    4. Ray Robinson
    5. Wilfred Benitez
    6. Felix Trinidad
    7. Roberto Duran
    8. Pernell Whitaker
    9. Oscar De La Hoya
    10.Emile Griffith

I was tempted to put Hearns as number 1, as I think that in 10 fights he beats Leonard more times than loses and beats everyone else but considering that in the only fight between them at Welterweight Leonard won...I have to rank Ray at the top. Hearns and Leonard are the only ones I'd pick over Mayweather with Hearns beating Floyd more easily. I think if Leonard fought Duran 10 times, Leonard wins 9. People will be shocked to see Robinson at 4th but from what I saw if SRR he had the entire package but can be outhustled...he wasn't as smart a boxer as the three ranked above him....although in terms of physical gifts alone he'd be ahead of them.I think Trinidad would have beaten Duran more often than not and Benitez would have beaten Duran every day of the week and twice on Sunday's. Hearns would have beaten everyone on the list at least once but Robinson would have been the guy to have beaten him the most.

And Benitez beats Floyd any day of the week with only 9 days of training.

Mayweather wouldn't beat Benitez, let alone Robinson.

Anyway, to answer this idiot's question.... I consider Robinson, Leonard, Hearns, and Napoles to be the four best welterweights of all time.

And since this is based on who-beats-who, Donald Curry would make my top 10.

There's easily over 10 welterweights in history who beat Floyd.

This list looks like something a teenager who's only seen Mayweather fights would put together.

Whenever you put together a list like his you forget someone. Truth is, I completely forgot about "Butter". Who would you replace with him?

That's the popular opinion from the elitists....since Floyd is hated and contemporary...but it's not the truth. Floyd can be boring in the ring and annoying outside of it...but he's a master boxer...smarter in that ring than both Robinson and Benitez. Tougher than Benitez...far more elusive and adaptable than Robinson.

yada yada yada. You can't pick real fights to save your life...what makes you think you have any credibility in MMs? You should be quiet and let me speak. You might learn something.

Anyone who knows anything to do with boxing...ask top boxers themselves (with the exception of Duran who sees himself as God) and they would tell you that Floyd is one of the best that's ever lived in terms of his abilities. Haters gonna hate...but you have to accept it.

But again...this is not about Floyd...you're making it out to be about Floyd...because you're obsessed with him, but this is about the top 10 best Welterweights of all time.

Last I checked...Floyd has more consecutive Welterweight title fight wins than any other Welterweight in history. So how is it again that he doesn't belong on the list?

WHAT ARE HIS WEAKNESSES? You still haven't told me.

Benitez would stay on the ropes all night only eluding all Floyd's punches and would win the fight without landing a single punch just because judges would have been in awe at his defensive skills and reflexes!

Benitez was a very good fighter. Defensive genius, decent power etc. Floyd was just a bit better than him in every aspect though, except maybe power. Floyd was even more elusive, smarter and tougher. Floyd probably had more stamina also. Anyone OBJECTIVE would agree.

Great discussion so far by the way.

Xplosive has wet his panties as usual, at the mere mention of Floyd, and this just adds to the drama. Very entertaining.

Napoles was smooth like butter. He'd give Floyd hell. Thing is though...that Floyd was also smooth like butter and would give Napoles hell too. You seem to think that Floyd was some average fighter...the type that great fighters pad their resume with. I'm trying to tell you that this is ridiculous.

Not Napoles. Napoles should have been included on the list. My miss.

De La Hoya, however, is much better than given credit for. You don't think that with his height, speed, power and boxing skills that he would have been a fairly dominant welterweight in the 50s?

Which two people do not belong on the list? Of the list of 10....are there more than two that should be removed?

For the list to be "fucking disgraceful"...I hope you can replace more than half of the list. If you can't...you're talking out of your ass.

DLH better than Napoles? At what? Cross dressing?

Napoles would have clearly outclassed Oscar.
