someone pointed it out to me last nite that if they have cage fights on the undercard they'd need a boxing ring and a cage so that would make it difficult in the same venue. didnt really think about that

unless they had a split site PPV

Thats silly. Floyd is nearly 40 years and old and regardless of the glove size human jaw isnt built to tank blunt trauma. It's just extremely likely Conor really lands on him

IT would be just as lopsided in Conors favor as a boxing match in Floyds.

Floyd couldnt take leg kicks, hes not conditioned for it.

How about a striking contest but prohibiting leg kicks?

They should have a boxing match under boxing rules, but in a UFC cage with MMA gloves.

    Then it becomes slightly interesting.

    oh, this thing again.

A few boxers whe into K1 and did decently, and COnnor is nowhere near the level of a K1 guy in kickboxing, and PBF is much better than these boxers. Floyd would have a hell of a chance. Anyway, it's obvious this thing won't happen.

REED Never Said Conor WOULDN'T Hit Floyd...

Problem is, YOU Automatically ASSume McGregor Can HURT Floyd, Wearing 10oz. Gloves, the FEW Times he'd Actually LAND a Shot...

McGregor Has NO Chance of Beating Floyd in a Boxing Ring, Dude...Likewise for Floyd vs. McGregor in the Octagon...

The build up to this fight would be great though. No one has ever gotten in Floyds face the way that Conor would. Interesting to see how Floyd would react to that.

saying that Floyd has no chance in the Octagon is terribly shortsighted. Floyd could very well ko mcgregor in a mma fight, much like Mercer did to Sylvia. Mcgregor style is mainly boxing based (like Sylvia), so it would give PBF a hell of a chance. I wouldn't bet on it, but he has a shot. Agreed that Mcgregor has no chance in a boxing fight. Dude got outboxed by Nate diaz

Rather than be a semantic twit, why don't you tell us what you believe McGregor's chances are?

Again - boxing rules, in a cage, with MMA gloves - that's the answer.

    They currently do Muay Thai in a cage with MMA gloves and it works;

Quite a Few MMA Fans are ALREADY Suggesting McGregor has a Chance, Brother Illu...

Fellow MMA FIGHTERS Know Conor's a Fish Out of Water in a Boxing Ring, but a Lot of MMA FANS Don't Realize This...Give this Fight a 3 Month, Worldwide Press Tour, w/McGregor OWNING Floyd @ Every Stop, Floyd PROMISING to "Stand Toe to Toe" (Knowing he WON'T), Maybe a Faux-Shoving Match or 3, and an INTENSE Staredown @ the Weigh-In...

This Shit Will Approach and Probably SURPASS Floyd-Pac Numbers...

But Again, there's Soooooooooo Many CONTRACTUAL Hurdles to Clear, so REED Can't See this Shit Happening...It'd Be Yuuuuuuuge as Fuck Though...

McGregor Would Kick the Shit Out of Floyd's Legs, Eventually Take him Down and GNP that Ass...

In Terms of Leg Strikes, Wrestling and BJJ, McGregor Would Be THE Highest Level Fighter Floyd's Ever Been in w/...McGregor Might Actually Last the Distance w/Floyd in a Boxing Ring (Losing EVERY Round in the Process), but NO WAY Would Floyd Last the Distance w/Conor in the Octagon...

Tooooooooooooo Many Ways to LOSE in the Octagon...

if Mcgregor tries to make this a standup battle, he's losing against Floyd. The guy is no great leg kickers, and he relies too much on his boxing. Still, He would probably take PBF down and sub or ko him there, but Floyd has a much better chance to beat Connor in a MMA fight than COnnor has of besting floyd in a boxing match, cause he has a hell of an advantage with his fists, while COnnor would have no advantage in a boxing match over Floyd

I doubt Mcgregor would be dumb enough to stand with Floyd using MMA rules. Even if he did the moment he got tagged I'm confident he'd revert to leg kicks and going for the takedown. Mayweather's defensive counterpunching is the worst of all boxing styles against an MMA fighter. Sure Connor is not Randy Coutoure in the wrestling department but he wouldn't have to be. Shoulder roll is useless against takedowns.

It's worthless speculation anyway. Floyd is not going fight unless all the terms favor him.

I think they would both win quite handily in their respective sports.

Mayweather is a free-agent and White has cleared up any hurdles for the UFC/McGregor end of things.

Who's PROMOTING the Fight, UFC or Mayweather Promotions???...

    Weight???...10oz Gloves???....8oz Gloves???...Boxing Ring or Octagon???...How Many Rounds???...3 or 5 Minute Rounds???...

Beyooooond those Details, Floyd Made OVER 30mil for Berto, a Fight NOBODY Gave a Flying Fuck about...1 of the LOWER Selling Floyd PPV's in Recent Memory...REED's Heard 15 and 25mil Being Mentioned for a McGregor Fight, Which is LAUGHABLE from Floyd's Perspective...A Comeback Fight Against Not Just an MMA Guy, but THE MMA Guy???...

Basically, a SERIOUS Offer Hasn't Been Made, as of Yet...Not Publically, Anyways...

Like it or Not, Floyd Would Get a SIGNIFICANT Share of the Take, Something UFC's NEVER Been Keen on Doing, w/their Fighters...Post-Fight "Bonuses" and "Undisclosed Amounts" Won't Cut It with Floyd....At the Same Time, No Way Will Conor Sit Back and Watch Floyd Getting 50-100mil w/Out Wanting SOMETHING in the Vicinity, for Himself...

Is Dana White REALLY Willing to Put the FACE of his Organization in a Situation that Completely Favors Floyd, Both Financially AND on Fightnight???...Floyd WILL NOT Engage in an MMA Bout w/McGregor, Period...We KNOW This...Floyd Would Call EVERY Shot, and Simply Say "No", if UFC Doesn't Oblige...

@ That Point, is Dana White REALLY Willing to Go the Extra Mile, Accommodating a Guy, in a 1-Off Venture, Who'll EMBARASS his Companies Biggest Attraction in a Boxing Match???...

Bottom Line, Floyd Mayweather Would HAVE to Be the BIGGEST 1 Night Earner in UFC History, for this Shit to Work...But is Dana White WILLING to Go THAT Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar, to Make it Happen???...

Not Only Does REED DOUBT White is, REED Doesn't Blame the Dude 1 Bit, Either...

Octagon - McGregor wins easily. Ring - Mayweather wins easily. It's like a proposed fight between a Siberian Tiger and a Salt Water crocodile....depends on the battlefield.

Rumours are that both sides have agreed to fight, but nothing concrete yet, plus Gareth A Davies was on the radio saying that this is nowhere near to being done.

Good idea. Get rid of mandatory 8 too, just brush the gloves off make the other guy get 6 feet back and wave them back at it
