REED is Merely Pointing Out Irish CLINGING to Jacobs' "Size and Weight" as the "Game Changer" Saturday Night, as Opposed to, Uuuuuum, Jacobs' ACUMEN as a Prizefighter???:dunno:...

No Fewer than 7 Posts, Irish BLATANTLY Parroted "Size, Size, Size...FUCKtional Weight Advantage, FUCKtional Weight Advantage"...

Yet the Motherfucker NEVER Uttered Those Terms in the Multitude of Fights Wlad AND Vitali Had Height, Reach, Weight, Size and PED Advantages...Peculiar he'd Invest 7 Posts Towards it in the Case of Jacobs, yet NEVER 1nce Has he Done So in Regards to the Brothers Klit...

Things that Make You Go Hmmmmmm???....

Again, I never did any such thing. I never decried Jacobs acumen as a fighter. In fact I posited several examples of him being one of the few guys around who knew how to use a size-weight advantage at that level.

I don't think Golov would be competitive with a prime Roy.

I think Roy would beat him with ease, at which point Roy haters would call Golov a bum.

Golovkin can't beat Roy for the same reason that Basilio can't beat Hearns, physicality {speed, size, technique, physical skills} is against both of them. It's a bad matchup.

But it shouldn't diminish Golovkin one bit.

Let's face it, Golovkin has no real variety to his game. He's not a swarmer, he's an unusually conservative pressure fighter with no distinguishing physical traits like blazing hand speed, a long jab, high output or reach or intensity.

He's not really cunning or shifty like Hopkins.

To be fair, is this a prime GGG?

It's not as crazy as you'd think when you consider that James Toney wasn't competitive with a prime Jones.

Double is a notorious Jones hater, no sense trying to explain this to him.

Yes, like you said, Roy has too many physical advantages for Golov to do much against him.

I don't see Golov doing a damn thing against the circa mid 90s Jones besides get punched in the face and hit air a lot.

No, I think he's slipping, but my opinion isn't based on Sat night.

Golov doesn't really have the style to trouble a prime Jones. Plus, he's too hittable.

He's never seen ANYTHING even REMOTELY close to the type of speed he'd see with Roy.

Toney was on a drip and getting shots so he could piss, eating water and lettuce on fight-week.

Apparently, one journalist said he heard "Sloshing noises" from Toney's innards during the fight.

Toney was not there that night.

I agree that a prime Roy is the worst possible matchup for GGG, I don't think that it would be a blowout.

That's just it. It's not like he has Vitali height, or Hank Armstrong activity, or that wild, explosive left-field flukey power of Iran Barkley or whatever.

I just don;t see a Joker in GGG's deck that flips the card game over, which is what he would need.

He's a competent, conservative banger with a few old tricks that most guys have forgotten , like double right hands.....wicked power downstairs, and used to have good finishing skills at least.

Roy sort of put guys in a shell, then went into one himself if the threat dissipated. He did this a lot at 175. There were exceptions, like the Hall fight, but Hall wouldn't stay in his shell, so Roy was obliged to keep putting him back into it.

And knowing Golovkin, he wouldn't settle for being anyones bitch, so he would force Roy to put it on him. And Roy would oblige.

    In for a quick nibble.
Against a TWO-LEGGED Sharmba Mitchell version of Roy Jones,... Golovkin would be smilin' ....smilin' then shaking his head,...then smilin' on one knee,... ...then smilin' at the towel coming up the steps.

With Hall, the guy's defense was so bad, RJJ didn't even need to come out of his shell to hit him.

It would've been interesting to see if Golov would end up in a shell against RJJ. What if Golov, with his great chin, answered RJJ's blinding counters, not by going into a shell, but with counters of his own? Ones that are short and fast enough to land? And then who goes in a shell? We can't know. But i don't completely discount ggg's chances. RJJ was certainly better than Jacobs.

This. At this point, I think we know the truth about Golov's power. It's not the cracking/snapping type that renders you unconscious with one punch - ala Hearns, Jackson, McClellan.

Golov has thudding/heavy hands that take their toll on you over the course of several rounds.

Problem is, he wouldn't touch Roy enough to make his thudding power a factor.

McClellan would have had a better chance at beating prime Roy.

The idea of Golov countering a prime Jones is comical.

I said it mostly to preempt the predictable response from you, which would've accused me of comparing the two.
