Closest thing to a prime elite fighter to ever move to MMA.

Didn't Vic top out at 118 pounds as a boxer? That's about 20 pounds lighter that the lowest weight class in any of the bigger MMA promotions.

Typical Gary Shaw. He'll match him against bums to run up a decent record and create some hype. But the whole notion is a joke. The worst of boxing (Shaw) showing up in MMA again.

    WTF? Why?

And like Trpl said, the guy is a natural super flyweight, he struggles at 118

He's going to go to 135 and fight MMA fighters with no MMA experience? He'll get destroyed and make boxing look bad like that idiot Toney.

Fans of cage fighting who don't know anything about boxing.

Not really. He IS currently better than any other boxer who has moved to MMA, in that he's not shot, and nowhere near as faded.

But he is 35 years old and just far too small. He is a career super flyweight, I'll be amazed if he even manages to beat any 135 pound scrubs in MMA.

    MMA zealots.

Wow, i thought it was a joke. Figured maybe the video contained some fight/wrestling at the press conference.

Yeah, those MMA fans among us that also know boxing realize it doesn't mean anything.

It did, but that program ended yesterday. Sorry.

You are entitled to 80% off Terry Norris merchandise however. You'll have to speak with Nobleart. Tell him whiskey sent you.

Vic father was the wrestling coach for the armenian olympic team, so he obviously knows how to wrestle. Too bad he's too old and small, otherwise he would have been a beast in mma imo

The UFC will eventually have a 125lbs division.

There already is a 125 lb divison, just not in ufc, and you can always do catchweights even lower.

There is no reason to believe Darchinyan will do well in mma, at least none I know of. I think we've gotten past the 'boxers will be so great on their feet' ideas from the past. Maybe not.

As to being concerned about what mma fans will think about boxers if and when they perform poorly in mma...that's just stupid on a few levels. Not the least of which is boxing fans thinking it means much when mma fighters suck in boxing.

What, it's almost as if you're saying they are two completely different sports. Well I'll be damned.

People should know this by now, and I hate the constant comparisons to boxing. It ain't boxing and it's never going to look like "Good boxing" because it's a completely different sport. You can't go out there and "box" You will get taken down or your legs chopped out from under you if you go into a MMA fight and try to box in a traditional boxing style.

very true. Just look at Noons who's standup looks different in boxing than in MMA. You have to be prepared for the takedown or even how to attack with both hands and feet. In a boxing stance, that is almost impossible.

Not to mention that Darchinyan is a sloppy boxer that actually looks like the sloppy MMA stand-up we see sometimes.

    LOL
