Adrien Broner-Mikey Garcia in Works for 7/29 at Barclays Center - Boxing News

In Terms of SKILL, this is a Mismatch, But we ALL Know Broner Ain't Coming Down to '40, so Garcia Just MIGHT Have to Go Up 2 Weight Classes to Make This Happen...

That Gap Obviously LESSENS the Skill Disparity, but is it Tooooooooo MUCH of a Weight Jump for Garcia, in Just his 3rd Bout After a 2 Year Layoff???...

If this were to happen, we might see Broner beaten up which is good but we would lose the chance to see Garcia vs Lomachenko. Personally I am not sure if I endorse the trade-off

    GREAT Point, UGO...

No Chance of Garcia Moving Up BEYOND '40, to Accommodate Broner, then Dropping Back DOWN to '35, in Hopes Of Lomachenko Moving Up...

In Terms of Weight, Broner-Crawford Makes MORE Sense, Rival Promotions Not Withstanding...

Interesting fight. Even with the size disadvantage, I think Mikey beats him.

I'd love to see Mikey ktfo Boner.

Wasn't Garcia like 148 when he fought at LW, so moving up to WW seems no problem for him

Broner should be at 135 or 140 himself. He's not a welter and he's a good payday and name so why not?

If this gets in the way of Garcia vs Loma, and it makes sense that it will, then screw Garcia vs Broner.

Because there is no upside. Bronwr at 135? Yeah right. Guy cannot even make 140. He will come in over weight and have a major weight advantage and possibly win as a result. And even if he does not, if he has any success at all it will reflect poorly on Garcia. This matchup seems like something a promoter cooks up who has trouble filling seats. But not one that is good for Garcia's career.

Could be closer than you think. Broner is a big boy compared to guys Garcia has faced previously. For that reason, I would give Garcia a lot of credit if he knocks Broner out or domimates him. Unfortunate part is, I do not think most people will because Broner is no longer viewed as a threat to any top fighters. And that is why this seems like a bad choice on the part of Garcia's team. Nothing to gain and everything to lose.

Garcia does have something to gain. Broner's a mainstream name and Garcia's not. If Garcia destroys him, it'll enhance his mainstream recognition.

Exactly. Beating Broner set Maidana up for the Floyd fight and made Shaun Porter a name fighter. If Garcia can stop Broner it's casual gold!

Actually if this happens and eliminates Loma vs. Garcia it could be a good thing. It could make Loma go for an good alternative fight which would be vs. Rigo.

when he has made to order opponents like flores was, and the guy from thailand he blasted in a similar fashion early after a headbutt half way thru round one he never quite gets the chance to show all his tools vs a guy who will allow him to shine.
